It is though way behind the leader in the Pixar crown, Toy Story 3 which took an incredible £21 million on it's debut and went on to become one of the highest grossing animation of all time.
Inside Out has a good start and is inline with Finding Nemo from 2003, it will easily go over the £30 million mark in the coming days.
Last weeks top film, Ant-Man, falls to number 2 this week with a £2.5 million weekend gross raising its total to £9.6.
One other new entry on the top 10 this week is Southpaw new at 4 with £1.6 million.

Dawn of The Planet of The Apes extended its stay at the top of the box office by another week leaving Hercules to debut at number 2.
Five years ago
Toy Story 3 made its very impressive debut at the top moving aside Inception which fell to number 2.
Ten years ago
Fantastic Four over took the number one spot on its debut week of release while Madagascar fell to number 2.
Fifteen years ago
Stuart Little moved to the top of the box office after 3 weeks on the chart knocking Chicken Run down to number 2, High Fidelity was the highest new film at number 4.
Twenty years ago
Stallone's Judge Dredd was the top new film making its debut at number 1 knocking Batman Forever down to number 2
The second Inbetweeners movie was released in cinemas on 8th August this year when it broke records by having the highest first day gross for a comedy, it took £12.5 million over it's debut weekend.
It saw a couple of weeks at the top, but had a very front loaded audience as the film only spent 6 weeks on the chart, but it grossed £34.6 million in the process.
In comparison the first movie of the series was on the box office for 9 weeks and took £45 million.
The Inbetweeners 2 is the 56th highest grossing film in the UK, it's not been released in the US yet.
Frozen this week goes back up to the number 2 spot, there is simply no stopping this films sales.
Other new films include Hercules and Planes Fire and Rescue.
Rio 2 hit the UK box office during the Easter holidays this year making it's debut on the chart for April 4th, it debuted at the top with a opening weekend gross of £2.8 million.
Over a fantastic 12 week run at the UK box office it went on to a total gross of £15 million and is the 266th top grossing film ever in the UK.
On the world stage it has made $473 million making it the 135th top film ever. Compared to the first Rio film it outperformed it but only just.
With Rio 2 at the top and The Logo Movie at 2, Noah falls to 3 this week and Frozen holds steady at number 4.

Now in it's second weekend of release Dawn of the Apes easily hangs on to the top spot with a weekend take of £3.7 million, this brings it's total gross to £17 million after 10 days of release.
Highest new film of the week is Dwayne Johnson in a retelling of Hercules, an all out action film rather than historical retelling of the Greek myth it's directed by Brett Ratner.
Hercules took a gross of £1.5 million on it's opening weekend, it has a long was to go to even be one of Johnson's best films as he's been part of the Fast and Furious series and The Mummy series.
Likewise Brett Ratner has been part of the X-Men series and directed the 2 Rush Hour movies, and also directed a Hannibal Lector film, all high grossing franchises.
Hercules could sink quite fast especially with some of the new releases coming in the next few weeks which will be ultimately bigger box office hits.

This time last year new at the top was The Wolverine based on the X-Men universe which topped on it's debut knocking Monsters University into 2nd.
Five years ago Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was still at the top in it's second week and The Proposal with Sandra Bullock was new at 2.
Ten years ago Spider-Man 2 held onto the top spot for a second week with the highest new film being Thunderbirds at 3.
Fifteen years ago it was Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace holding onto the top spot for a second week, and with nothing daring to open up in the wake of such a big film the highest new film was Hindustan Ki Kasam at 10.
Having been a very prolific director in the late 90's Luc Besson returns to the adult action arena and hits the top with Lucy, helped in no small way by the ever popular star Scarlett Johansson.
Lucy hits the top spot with a $44 million opening weekend.
Falling into second place after a couple of weeks at the top is Dawn of the planet of the apes, a $16 million weekend takes its total gross after 3 weeks to $172 million.
Highest grossing film on the American box office this week is Transformers Age of Extinction which has grossed $236 million so far.
