Returning 17 years after their last teaming Will Smith and Martin Lawrence team up as Bad Boys again in Bad Boys For Life and hit the top with a far better than expected debut while Robert Downey Jr. limps into number 2 with Dolittle.

Bad Boys For Life

With a change of director from Micheal Bay to Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence sequel vehicle hits the top of the US box office with ease taking a surprising $59.1 Million.

The last time we had a Bad Boys movie was 17 years ago in July 2003 when Bad Boys II made its debut at the top with $46.5 Million, so the love for this franchise has not demished at all.

Dolittle

Dolittle

Robert Downey Jr. first movie since the mega smash hit Avengers: Endgame which went on to be the highest grossing movie of all time limps into the box offie with a debut gross of $22.5 Million.

This will be worrying for the studio and it could end up as one of the stars lowest grossing movies.

To put this into perspective the debut gross is even lower that the $29 Million debut of the 1998 Eddie Murphy Doctor Dolittle, without adjusting for inflation.

1917

Sam Mendes much praised war movie drop to number 2 this weekend with a $22.1 Million weekend gross putting the film total at $76.7 Million after 4 weeks of release, 2 weeks on wide release.

Jumanji: The Next Level

The Dwayne Johnson starring sequel movie falls to 4 this weekend with $9.5 Million for a US total gross of $270.4 Million after 6 weeks of release.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

J.J. Abrams final star wars movie falls to 5 this week with $8.3 Million on its 5th weekend of release.

The film has without doubt been a success with a total US gross of $492 Million and is the highest total grossing movie on the box offie this week, but in terms of film in the Star Wars franchise, and the marketing hype the film was given, it is perhaps a failure and wont reach the $620 Million of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Some good news this week for the film, it has passed the $474.5 Million of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Parasite

The much praised South Korea movie is the longest running film on the US box office this week with 15 weeks and a total gross of $27.7 Million.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker makes its UK box office debut at the top of the chart while Cats makes its debut at number 2 despite being panned by critics and movie goers alike.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

After 44 years the series of movies that started with Star Wars in 1977 comes to an end, and as with all the other movies in the saga the new films makes its debut at the top, this time with a gross of £14.4 Million.

There is an element of disappointment here as Star Wars: The Last Jedi took £28 Million on its debut and Star Wars: The Force Awakens £34 Million.

This could be because the film has not had good reviews from many critics or it could be because the fans have become a little tired of Star Wars films, this is the 5th movie since Disney bought Lucasfilms.

When George Lucas was making Star Wars movies he released each movie 2 - 3 years apart and each movie felt like an event and the fans were hungry for more, Disney have had a far more agressive release schedule and the sequel trilogy has only taken 4 years to complete.

Unlike the Marvel movies it would seem the Star Wars fans need far longer between movies, saying that this is a good film to finish of the saga and it could well have a long run and make its money in the new year.

Cats

Cats

The writing was on the wall for this movie after the criticism the first trailer got, and hence the movie makes its debut at number 2 but with a relatively low £3.2 Million.

Jumanji: The Next Level

The sequel movie starring Karen Gillan and Dwayne Johnson falls to number 3 this week, after making its debut at the top last week, with £2.9 Million.

This gives the movie a 2 week total of £14.7 Million which is a couple of million lower than its predecessor.

Frozen II

Disney's sequel movie drops to number 4 this weekend with a gross of £2.2 Million.

This gives the film a total gross of £41.7 Million after 5 weeks of release which is over £10 Million higher that its predecessor.

Last Christmas

The festive movie has proved to be a bigger films in the UK than many other parts of the world and while it falls to number 5 this weekend with £803,948 it has still taken a quite respectable £16.9 Million over 6 weeks.

Joker

The mega smash hit DC superhero villain movie climbs back onto the box office this weekend spending its 11th in total and has now taken £57.9 Million.

Jumanji: The Next Level makes its US debut at the top of the box office knocking Frozen II down to second place while Clint Eastwoods Richard Jewell and Sophia Takal's Black Christmas also enter the chart inside the top 5

Jumanji: The Next Level

The inevitable sequel to 2017's surprise hit movie lands at the top of the US box office this weekend with a gross of $60.1 Million.

The previous movie went on to take $404.5 Million in the US and there is no reason why this one wont get into that terrestory as well.

Frozen II

Disney's sequel movie falls from the top after 3 weeks into second place with a gross of $19.1 Million.

This takes the films total gross in the US to $366.5 Million after 4 weeks of release and its closing in fast on the original's $400 Million total US take.

Knives Out

The murder mystery hit from director Rian Johnson falls to 3 this week with $9.2 Million for a $78.9 total after 3 weeks.

Richard Jewell

Director Clint Eastwood brings his latest true life drama to the screen and it lands this week at number 4 with a $5 Million debut.

Black Christmas

Starring Imogen Poots and Cary Elwes this seasonal horror movie lands at number 5 this week with $4.4 Million.

Joker

The mega smash hit from Warner Bros. spends its (probably) last week on the box office this week at number 15 and its the longest running film with 11 weeks clocked up.

Its also the highest total grossing film on this weeks box office with $333 Million taken to date.
