2nd October 2018

It was a tight fought battle at the top of the UK box office this weekend between Night School and last weeks top film The House With A Clock In Its Walls but the new comer won in the end.

The House With A Clock In Its Walls

Night School

Taking iver at the top the new romantic comedy starring Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish took the top with £1.59 million, a very slim margin of £0.05million.

Kevin Hart has appeared in some high profile film including Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle so this is a fairly low opening for him, for Tiffany Haddish who starred is the £8 million Girls Trip from 2017 this will go down as her second highest grossing film in the UK.

The House With A Clock In Its Walls

Taking top honors that week the Jack Black starring film nearly repeated this week but gets knocked down to 2 taking £1.54 million for the weekend, this boosts the films total to £5.5 million after 2 weeks.

A Simple Favour

The Paul Feig directed film falls to number 3 this week with just over a million pound weekend gross which takes to films UK gross to £3.4 million after 2 weeks.

Crazy Rich Asians

The American smash hit comedy is still doing well in the UK, although not bringing in the same success as across the pond, but a £0.7 million weekend puts the film at number 4 this week and boosts the total gross to £4.8 million.

The Nun

Halloween may be just around the corner but this horror film will be out the charts by then, sitting at 5 this week with a £0.6 million weekend brings it to a very respectable £10.5 million UK gross.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

The sequel has done amazingly well in the UK and is the top total grossing film again this week, dropping to number 13 this week the film has a UK total gross of £65 million.

It probably wont outgross the original movie's £69 million which for a time was the UK's top film but it will be in the same ball park.

As has become the norm in the 10 years Marvel have dominated the Superhero movie scene when a new film is released is not only dominated it destroys all in its path.

This week Disney/Marvel release a new IP onto the cinematic world in the shape of Black Panther and it has become the biggest non Avengers film in the franchise.

Taking an incredible $192 million from the weekend is has shattered the record held by Deadpool for highest grossing debut film on a February.

Sticking at number 2 this week is Peter Rabbit who takes $17.2 million for the weekend and boosts its cume to $48 million.

Third this week is Fifty Shades Freed which falls quite heavy from its number one debut with $16.9 million for a $76 million total.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle has so surpassed all expectations its now looking like it could outgross Sony stablemate Spider-Man which before now was the highest grossing movie for the studio, a $7.6 million 9th weekend pushes its total to $377.6 million.

Finally Clint Eastwood's The 15:17 To Paris is at number 5 with $7.6 million for a total of $25 million.

12th February 2018

Its the 'climax' to the Fifty Shades series and judging from the critical response Fifty Shades Freed is 1 film too many.

Coming in with a weekend gross of $38 million it is by far the lowest grossing debut for a film in the series, a series which has corroded far faster than many other.

Expect the film to sink quite quick down the box office after this debut and potentially to be on home video by early summer.

Coming in at number 2 is the 'live action' version of Beatrix Potters classic tale of Peter Rabbit which makes its debut with $25 million openeing gross.

Another new entry makes its debut at number 3 in the shape of the Clint Eastwood directed The 15:17 To Paris which grosses $12.6 million.

Holders fill in the last 2 spots on the US box office in the shape of Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle and The Greatest Showman.

29th January 2018

At the US box office this week the third of the Maze Runner films, Maze Runner: The Death Cure makes a convincing debut at the top.

With a gross of $23.5 million for its debut weekend it is the lowest of the series, but interest has waned big time for the dystopian teen dramas and this is coming 18 months too late, a swift exit from the charts could happen.

Holding up well at number 2 is Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle which has far outstripped expectation and has taken $338 million in the US.

Hostiles comes in as a new entry at number 3, the critically praised film starring Christian Bale takes $10.2 million.

Rounding out the top 5 is The Greatest Showman at number 4 and The Post at number 5.
