This weekend, Friday 23rd August 2019, there are 3 new films released in the UK looking to hit the box office, but can it challenge Once Upon A Time ... In Hollywood for the top spot?

Angel Has Fallen

First up at cinemas this week is Angel Has Fallen, an Action movie directed by Ric Roman Waugh who also directed Shot Caller in 2017 which grossed £1.1 Thousand.

It stars Gerard Butler who last starred in The Vanishing (2019) and Morgan Freeman who last appeared in The Poison Rose (2019).

Crawl

Next on the new release schedule is Crawl, this new Dramatic movie stars Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper who starred in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) together.

The film is brought to us by Alexandre Aja.

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

Next up this week is Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark which is directed by Andre Ovredal who directed Tunnel in 2016.

It stars Zoe Margaret Colletti and Michael Garza.

Once Upon A Time ... In Hollywood

First up at cinemas this week is Once Upon A Time ... In Hollywood, a Comedy directed by Quentin Tarantino who also directed Kill Bill Volume 1 in 2003 which grossed £11.5 Million.

It stars Leonardo DiCaprio who last starred in Before The Flood (2016) and Brad Pitt who last appeared in Deadpool 2 (2018).

Dora And The Lost City Of Gold

Next on the new release schedule is Dora And The Lost City Of Gold, this new Family stars Isabela Moner and Eugenio Derbez.

The film is brought to us by 4 time director James Bobin.

Good Boys

Next up this week is Good Boys which is directed by Gene Stupnitsky and is a directorial debut.

It stars Jacob Tremblay and Keith L. Williams.

Uglydolls

Also this week there is Uglydolls from director Kelly Asbury who also directed Gnomeo And Juliet in 2011.

The film features Pitbull and Ice-T in starring roles.

The Lion King is still the top film of the week at the US box office but director Quentin Tarantino scores the best debut of his career with Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

The Disney live action movie spends a second weekend at the top with a gross of $75.5 Million.

This pushes the films total gross after 2 weeks to an amazing $350.7 Million.

Once Upon A Time ... In Hollywood

Quentin Tarantino brings his latest film to the big screen and in the process gets the biggest opening of his career.

Making its debut at number 2 this 1960's based film set in Hollywood starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt takes $40.3 Million on its debut weekend.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Still pulling in the crowds at number 3 in the latest film from Sony and Marvel starring Tom Holland which pulls in $12.2 Million over the weekend.

This puts the film 4 week total gross at $344.4 Million.

Toy Story 4

Sitting at number 4 this week is the Pixar animation with a weekend of $9.8 Million wich boosts its total to $395.6 Million after 6 weeks of release.

3 weeks on and the big crocodile thriller is at number 5 with a weekend gross of $4 Million which boosts its total to $31 Million.

The Marvel mammoth is still at number 12 this week and 14 weeks after its release it has taken $856.4 Million.

Jon Favreau's live action version of The Lion King makes its debut at the top of the US box office knocking Spider-Man: Far From Home to number 2.

The latest live action remake hits the top of the US box office with a weekend gross of $185 Million including preview showing on Thursday.

The film starring Donald Glover, Seth Rogen and Beyonce gained the biggest ever July opening weekend and looks set to become the next $1 Billion film from Disney.

Falling to number 2 this week after a couple at the top the last Marvel movie of the year takes $21 Million over the weekend.

This puts the film new US gross at $319.6 Million after 3 weeks of release.

Toy Story 4

Dropping a single place to number 3 this week the Pixar animated film takes $14.6 million on its 5th weekend of release.

This puts the films total gross at $375.5 Million, the film is not that far behind 2010's Toy Story 3's $415.0 Million US gross.

The horror thriller drops to number 4 this week with $6 Million taking its total gross to $23.8 Million after 2 weeks.

Yesterday

The Beatles inspired comedy falls to number 5 this weekend with $5.1 Million taking its total gross to $57.5 Million after 4 weeks.

13 weeks in and the Marvel Studios movie has taken $854.2 Million at the box office and although its the top grossing movie in the world now its only the second highest grossing movie in the US.

Spider-Man: Far From Home stays on top of the US box office on its second weekend of release keeping a couple of new releases at bay in the shape of Crawl and Stuber.

The Pixar animated movie takes $20.6 Million on its fourth weekend of release pushing the films total US gross to $346.3 Million.
