With the first quarter of the year over and most of the cinemas closed across the US it a good time to pause for a moment and take a look at the top film during the first 3 months of 2020.
Twenty five years after the first teaming of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence first hit cinemas the third film in the buddy cop movie beats all expectations.
The movie was a mega smash at US box office with a total gross of $204 Million, and it was still at cinemas before the close down.
The movie was the hot tip to sweep the Oscars this year before everyone decided Parasite was the better film, but it didn't hurt Sam Mandes War Drama at the box office.
The movie was still a hit and pulled in a very good $158 Million at the US box office.
Despite getting a very mixed reaction from the Star Wars hard core, the much hailed end of the saga movie still pulled in the audiences with over $500 Million in the US box office in total.
In 2020 the movie took and impressive $153 Million.
Despite the early signs suggest this would be a flop the redesign of the main character Sonic pushed it to a $145 Million US gross.
Dwayne Johnsons sequel to the smash hit Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle didn't quite hit the same note but it was still a smash hit taking $141 Million in 2020, it has taken $316 Million in total.
Warner Bros. were maybe expecting a bit more from the Harley Quinn movie but it still managed a quite respectable $84 Million, no flop but no smash hit.
Greta Gerwig's adaptation of the classic novel was praised by critics and audiences alike and took $78 Million in the first quarter of 2020 in the US, it has taken $108 Million in total.
This Robert Downey Jr. vehicle was never going to reach the heights of anything with Iron Man in but the film still did better than expected considering the bad reviews, it took $77 Million.
Just creeping in before the American coronavirus shutdown the Universal monster movie took a very respectable $64 Million, its box office run was cut short and the movie is now available on streaming services.
Harrison Ford went back to nature for this down to earth movie which held its own at the box office with a $62 Million total gross, again the movie was still doing well when cinemas closed their doors.

It's the end of the first quarter of 2020, and with cinemas closed in the UK until further notice it seems like a good time to look at the top 10 films of 2020 so far.
Sam Mandes film is by far the top grossing film of 2020 so far, with a total gross of £43 Million it has taken more than double that of the number film.
This is no surprise from the British director, the movie saw tipped for glory at the Oscar but ended up loosing out ot Parasite, still the British public took to the World War II film.
Despite the difficult production and fan feedback for the design of Sonic when the first trailer came out, director Jeff Fowler went back to the drawing board and re-did the central character and it seems to have worked.
The movie ended up grossing a very good £19 Million, far than than was expected.
Despite an amount of disappointment from a section of the Star Wars fan base the last episode of the "Skywalker Saga" did very well over the holiday period, altohugh it is the lowest grossing of the sequel trilogy.
A gross of £18 Million in 2020 adds to the £39 Million taken in December of 2019.
Greta Gerwig's adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott classic novel was a fan favourite which took £17.7 Million at the ox office.
Many people had written this film off before release but the repairing of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence worked and the movie grossed nearly £16 Million at the UK box office.
Another surprise hit as the Robert Downey Jr. movie took £15.8 Million at the box office.
Dwayne Johnson's sequel may not have been the smash Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle was but it still manages a respectable £14.7 Million.
Winning the best film Oscar did this South Korean movie wonders as it became the highest grossing foreign language film ever in the UK with a total of £12 Million.
Guy Ritchie returns to his directiorial roots with this London based gangster movie which took £11.5 Million.
More was expected from this Harley Quinn movie starring Margot Robbie but the film under performed, it still managed a £8.8 Million total gross.

Horror, Thriller The Invisible Man makes its debut at the top of the US box office on its debut weekend knocking Sonic The Hedgehog from the top while My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising also makes an impressive debut at number 4.
Directed by Leigh Whannell the new take on a monster movie makes its way to the top of the US box office with ease over the weekend with a debut gross of $29 Million.
The Elisabeth Moss and Oliver Jackson-Cohen starring movie is well places to to have a good run at the box office and with nothing but a Pixar movie aiming at a totally different market coming of note until late March it could have a big number final gross.
The speedy blue hedgehog movie starring Jim Carrey falls to number 2 this week after a couple of weeks at the top with $16 Million over the weekend.
This brings the Jeff Fowler directed video game adaptation to $128.2 Million after 3 weeks of release.
The Harrison Ford starring movie falls to 3 this week with $13.2 Million taking its total to $45.8 Million after 2 weeks of release.
The Japanese anime superhero film makes its debut at number 4 on the US box office with a weekend take of $5.1 Million.
With a mid-week release the film has taken $8.4 Million to date.
The Will Smith and Martin Lawrence buddy cop movie which has been a surprise smash hit falls to 5 this week with $4.3 Million to boost its total to $197.3 Million after 7 weeks of release.
THe Oscar winning movie from South Korea directed by Bong Joon Ho is the longest running film on the box office this week with 20 weeks in total and is at number 12 this week.
It may not have done the numbers of Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle but the Dwayne Johnson sequel is doing well and this week has the top total gross on the box office with $313.7 Million after 12 weeks, it is this weeks number 11.

Horror movie The Invisible Man takes the top spot on the global box office this week on its debut knocking Sonic The Hedgehog down to number 2.
Starring Elizabeth Moss this new take on the universal monster story of The Invisible Man takes the top spot on its debut weekend with $49.2 Million from 48 contries.
This is a good start to for the movie and with good reviews the film could be around for quite a while.
After 2 weeks at the top the speedy blue hedgehog falls to number 3 with a weekend gross of $42.8 Million from 63 countries giving the film a total of $265.4 Million after 3 weeks of release.
Starring Harrison Ford the down to earth adventure falls to number 3 this week with $24.2 Million from 51 countries.
This pushes the films total gross to $79.2 Million on its second weeekend of release.
Guy Ritchies London based movie just from number 10 to number 4 this week with a weekend gross of $9.5 Million from 65 countries.
The film reverse in chart movement is on its 8th week of release and puts the films total gross at $101.8 Million as it passes a new milestone.
The Will Smith and Martin Lawrence buddy cop movie falls to 5 this week with $9.5 Million from 56 countries for a total gross of $405.3 Million after 7 weeks.

Video game adaptation Sonic The Hedgehog remained at the top of the US box office for a second consecutive weekend stopping Harrison Ford's new film which made an impressive debut at number 2.
The speedy blue hedgehog remained at the top of the US box office for a second weekend with $26.3 Million.
This puts the Jim Carrey starring movie's total gross at $106.6 Million and the film has managed to pass one milestone by passing the $100 Million mark.
This is incidentally the biggest film Starring Jim Carrey in 10 years and at the current rate could be his biggest film since Bruce Almighty from 2003.
Harrison Ford follows up his return to the Galaxy Far Far Away with this more grounded movie which just misses out on the top spot.
The movie is the top new film of the week and takes $24.8 Million over the weekend.
The Margo Robbie starring Harley Quinn movie falls to number 3 this week with a weekend gross of just $7 Million.
This puts the film total gross to a fairly disappointing $72.5 Million after 3 weeks of release, it will end up one of the lowest grossing DC Universe movies.
Entering the box office at number 4 is this horror movie starring Katie Holmes which taked $5.9 Million on its debut.
Finally halling to number 5 this week with the Bad Boys reunion which takes $5.8 Million for a 6 week gross of $191.1 Million.
The movie should pass the $200 Million mark by next weekend.
Thanks to the Oscar glory the film got the SOuth Korean class movie is the longest running film on the US box office this week with 19 weeks, it has taken just shy of $50 Million.
Highest total grossing movie of the week is the Dwayne Johnson vehicle which is at number 9 this week with $310.9 Million after 11 weeks of release.
