This gives the film a total UK gross of £26.3 Million making it by far the top grossing film so far in 2020.

And just for the record it is now the top grossing film in the UK for Sam Mendes that isn't a Bond movie, and the film wont get anywhere near the total gross of those two films.

Bad Boys For Life

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have to settle for second place again this week as the movie takes £2.7 Million over the weekend.

This brings the sequel movie's total UK gross to £8.2 Million after 2 weeks of release.

Dolittle

Despite the slow start the Robert Downey Jr. starring movie is still at number 3 this week with a weekend take of $25.7 Million from 56 countries.

The film has now taken $91 Million after 3 weeks of release and will make over $100 Million in total in the coming days.

Jumanji: The Next Level

Hanging onto a place on the top 5 is the Dwayne Johnson starring movie with takes $17.5 Milion from 61 countries.

The film has now taken $737.4 Million over 8 weeks and altohugh will not go over the magic $1 Billion mark has performed well.

1917

Sam Mendes war film remains at the top of the UK box office for a second weekend with an excellent hold over gross of £6.2 Million which is a minute drop of £1.25 Million or 15%.

This puts the film total UK gross at £18.4 Million after 2 weeks of release and it is the highest grossing movie of 2020 so far.

Bad Boys For Life

Bad Boys For Life

The re-teaming of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence after 17 years gives the movie a number 2 entry this week with £3.7 Million.

Normally this would have been a number 1 entry except for the fantastic weekend gross of 1917, but with good reviews and great results across the rest of the world the story isn't over yet.

Little Women

Greta Gerwig's movie version of the classic novel falls to 3 this week but holds up well with a weekend gross of £1.4 Million and £16.3 Million in total after 4 weeks.

The Gentlemen

Guy Ritchie's London gangster movie falls to 4 this weekend with £1.09 Million on its 3rd weekend for a £7.8 million total.

Jumanji: The Next Level

The sequel movie is at number 5 this weekend with £1.06 Million for a £32.4 Million total after 6 weeks.

The movie has not performed as well as the previous movie which at this point had made £34.1 Million but its not far behind.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Falling to number 6 this weekend is the Star Wars saga movie which this week is the highest total grossing movie on the box office with £56.4 Million after 5 weeks of release.

Frozen II

Disney's sequel movie has been a smash hit in the UK and this week is the longest running film on the chart at 9 weeks, it has taken £51.9 Million.

21st January 2020

Returning 17 years after their last teaming Will Smith and Martin Lawrence team up as Bad Boys again in Bad Boys For Life and hit the top with a far better than expected debut while Robert Downey Jr. limps into number 2 with Dolittle.

Bad Boys For Life

With a change of director from Micheal Bay to Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence sequel vehicle hits the top of the US box office with ease taking a surprising $59.1 Million.

The last time we had a Bad Boys movie was 17 years ago in July 2003 when Bad Boys II made its debut at the top with $46.5 Million, so the love for this franchise has not demished at all.

Dolittle

Dolittle

Robert Downey Jr. first movie since the mega smash hit Avengers: Endgame which went on to be the highest grossing movie of all time limps into the box offie with a debut gross of $22.5 Million.

This will be worrying for the studio and it could end up as one of the stars lowest grossing movies.

To put this into perspective the debut gross is even lower that the $29 Million debut of the 1998 Eddie Murphy Doctor Dolittle, without adjusting for inflation.

1917

Sam Mendes much praised war movie drop to number 2 this weekend with a $22.1 Million weekend gross putting the film total at $76.7 Million after 4 weeks of release, 2 weeks on wide release.

Jumanji: The Next Level

The Dwayne Johnson starring sequel movie falls to 4 this weekend with $9.5 Million for a US total gross of $270.4 Million after 6 weeks of release.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

J.J. Abrams final star wars movie falls to 5 this week with $8.3 Million on its 5th weekend of release.

The film has without doubt been a success with a total US gross of $492 Million and is the highest total grossing movie on the box offie this week, but in terms of film in the Star Wars franchise, and the marketing hype the film was given, it is perhaps a failure and wont reach the $620 Million of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Some good news this week for the film, it has passed the $474.5 Million of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Parasite

The much praised South Korea movie is the longest running film on the US box office this week with 15 weeks and a total gross of $27.7 Million.

21st January 2020

Bad Boys For Life tops the global box office in its debut week of release with a far better than expected weekend gross while 1917 drops to number 2.

Bad Boys For Life

It's been 17 years since Will Smith and Martin Lawrence lance teamed up in a Bad Boys movie but it looks like the cinema going public have not forgotten the fun as the movie takes $97.7 Million from 40 countries on its debut.

A fourth movie has already been green lit by Sony and this debut must be giving them a lot of faith and potentially the franchise could go further.

Will Smith has had plenty of hits in the last 17 years but Martin Lawrence hasn't but with Smith's last film Gemini Man bombing at the box office this will be good news for both leads.

1917

Sam Mendes much praised war movie falls from the top to number 2 this weekend with $48.2 Million from 27 countries.

As the movie soaks up awards across the board this puts the movies total global gross at $138.6 Million after 2 weeks and with Oscars still to come this could climb a lot higher.

Dolittle

Dolittle

The Robert Downey Jr. post Avengers: Endgame movie got its US release this weekend, among others, but sits at number 3 on the box office in what is perhaps a disappointing movie for the expensive comedy.

The movie makes $39.7 Million on its second weekend from 47 countries wich pushes its total global gross to $49.8 Million.

Jumanji: The Next Level

The smash hit sequel falls to number 4 this weekend with $26.5 Million from 66 countries which pushes the movies total to $708.4 Million after 7 weeks.

The movie will not go near the $1 Billion mark which its predecessor came so close to crossing.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

The final Star Wars movie in the saga falls to number 5 this weekend with a gross of $19.2 Million from 54 countries.

The movie has passes the $1 Billion mark at the global box office but it is the lowest grossing of the sequel trilogy and is being seen as a failure by Lucasfilms and Disney.
