In a mixed up week at the UK box office, using figures including 2 days of previews Adam Sandlers Pixels takes over a the top, the true winner is Inside Out.

If you take away the 2 days of previews Pixar's Inside Out is by far the biggest film of the weekend, and indeed of the week with only a 3% drop from the previous weeks takings.

But lets not take away from the given champion and Pixels duly takes over at the top of the UK box office with a weekend gross of £2.7 million.

After a slamming from critics last weeks top film, Fantastic Four, makes a dramatic fall from the top and lands at number 6 this week with a total gross after 2 weekends of £4.8 million.

The re-image of the superhero franchise simply hasn't worked and the new film will come no-where near the 2005 version which took £12.4 million or it's sequel 4: Rise of The Silver Surfer which took almost the same amount.

Other new film this week include The Man From U.N.C.L.E. at number 4 and Trainwreck, on a limited release, at number 5, Simon Pegg's new film Absolutely Anything enters at number 9.

16th December 2014

With no big new releases this week the video chart is left to the mercy of the ver present Frozen which duly goes back to the top of the video chart, in it's 36th week.

Last week top film, The Inbetweeners 2, falls just a single place to 2 this week after just 1 week at the top.

Highest new film of the week as it 3, The Expendables 3, starring a whole host of movie tough guys including Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The Expendables 3 was release in UK cinemas on 15th August where it debuted at number 3. It had a short UK box office run of just 3 weeks.

During that time it grossed £3.7 million never climbing highest than 3. It is by far the lowest grossing of the franchise to date.

Other new film this week are: One Direction Where We Are at 15 and The Nut Job at 17

21st August 2014

Unsurprising this week that the comedy smash The Inbetweeners 2 stays at the top of the UK box office for another week, also no strong new releases helped it's cause.

Proving to be as popular as the original, The Inbetweeners stayed at the top of the tree with a weekend take of £3.4 million which brings its 10 day total gross to £22.3 million.

The first movie had taken £25 million by this point in it's run so this movie is a tiny bit behind but should end up at about the same figure by the end of it's cinema run.

Holding steady at 2 is Guardians of the Galaxy which means that the highest new film is The Expendables 3 at number 3.

This is the lowest grossing film in the (current) trilogy with the first film taking £3 million on it's opening and the followup taking £2 million.

Also worth mentioning this week is Disneys frozen which despite having had a few months on home video now makes a re-appearance on the box office at number 15 with a nearly £100,000 take.

Back to the Future keeps it's appearance in the top 10 due to it's Secret Cinema event showings in London.

One year ago this week Kick-Ass 2 made it's debut on the chart with an entry at number 1 knocking Grown Ups 2 to 4th.

Five years ago The Time Travelers Wife took the number 1 spot on it's debut knocking Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince to number 4.

Ten years ago I, Robot surrendered the top spot to new entry The Bourne Supremacy.

Fifteen years ago Will Smith and Kevin Klein hit the top spot with Wild Wild West on it's debut week knocking Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me to number 3.

19th August 2014

In America this week the Turtles kept at bay all new comers to hang onto the number 1 spot for a second week.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the remake/reboot) has now grossed $117 million dollars at the American box office over it's 10 day release period.

Staying in the runner up spot is Guardians of the Galaxy which means the highest new film of the week enters at 3.

Lets Be Cops directed by Luke Greenfield and starring Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. took $17.7 million for the weekend, beating the highly anticipated The Expendables 3 which struggles with $12 million.
