Starring Dwayne Johnson Black Adam, the latest superhero movie from the DC Universe stable of films hits the top of the UK box office on its debut weekend.

Irish friendship drama The Banshees of Inisherin is new at number 2, while outside the top 5 there is a new entry for Chinese drama Decision to Leave which enters at 6 with £410,107.

Highest new movie this weekend

Starring Dwayne Johnson in the title role the latest movie from the Warner Bros. DC Extended Universe of movies makes its debut at the top of the box office.

The movie makes its debut with a gross of £1.6 Million which is lower that The Batman from earlier this year, but this is a new IP and that was from one of the longest renning series of movies starring a DC superhero.

The movie has little competition in the coming weeks but come 11th November it we get the Black Panther sequel!

Starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson this lighthearted drama about friendship comes from the director who brought us the critically acclaimed In Bruges

The movie lands at numebr 2 this weekend with an incredible gross of £1.6 Million, quite a bit higher that In Bruges which took £343,760 on its debut, that movie was a bit of a sleeper hit and went on the take £4.7 Million over 15 weeks.

After making its debut at the top last weekend the childrens book brought to the big screen by directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck falls to number 3.

The movie takes £1.4 Million on its second weekend of release, a 48% drop over last weekend giving the movie a UK total of £4.9 Million.

The horror movie of the moment falls to number 4 this weekend with a gross of £996,477 on its 4th weekend, this is a 30% drop over last week.

THe movie has now taken an amazing £9 Million in the UK as it get close to the £10 Million milestone.

It will most likely see a bump in taking next weekend as the Halloween season is in full swing and audiences are looking for the scare over the weekend.

The last in the last trilogy of Halloween movies falls to number 5 this weekend with £703,338, a large 67% drop over last week.

The movie now has a total UK gross of £3.6 Million, and despite the fact it could get a boost from the Halloween season next week it will finish off its box office run the lowest of this trilogy of movies.
