Les Misérables
As a cold snap hits Britain and threatens to stop everyone from going to the cinema Les Misérables holds it's place at number one without much threat from the only new release.

Les Misérables dropped almost 50% from it's debut weekend gross but still managed £4.4 million bringing it's total gross after 10 days of release to £17.3 million.

The new film from cult director Quentin Tarantino, starring Jammie Foxx, gives a decent performence on it's debut weekend and grosses £2.8 million, not Tarentino's best, that honor goes to Inglourious Basterds in 2009.

This time last year War Horse was still riding high at the top with a weekend gross of £3,202,493, while Haywire from director Steven Soderbergh was new at 2 with £1,197,866.

Five years ago the Oscar nominated film No Country For Old Men was beaten to the top spot by Aliens Vs Predator Requiem which grossed £1,970,363 on it's debut.

Ten years ago the second Lord of the Rings film ended it's 4 week run at the top, giving way to Eminem in 8 Mile which debuted with £4,440,334.

Fifteen years ago The Devils Advocate starring Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino debuted at the top with £1,300,733.
