Avengers: Endgame opened strongly, going straight to number one in its first weekend. The Encore version of the 2019 movie which extra scenes linking it to Avengers Doomsday has little competition to reach the top.

As for last week's number one film, Resident Evil, the ride at the absolute top has come to an end. It slipped down the ladder to Number 2 this weekend, though its accounting team won't mind too much given its total gross now sits at £8,629,328.
