As the sequel movie to Avatar races past the $500 Million mark at the US box office it takes $45 Million on its 4th weekend of release, a small 29% drop over last weekend
With a total North American gross of $516 Million at the US box office the movie is well ahead of the original film in the series which had taken $430 Million 4 weeks into its run.
Avatar was for a long time the top grossing movie in North America, now overtaken by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, that movie had taken $812 Million 4 weeks into its run.
Highest new movie this weekend
Making its box office debut at number 2 this weekend is a new IP from the director of the 2014 movie Housebound, Gerard Johnstone.
The movie has had a lot of hype and good reviews and jumps into the box office with a debut gross of $30 Million
In comparison to last Halloweens horror hit Smile~2022, that movie took $22 Million on its debut.
Dropping to number 2 this weekend, but still pulling in audiences the the Puss in Boots sequel from the Shrek universe which takes $13 Million, a slim 20% drop over last weekend.
The movie has taken a very strong $87 Million total after 3 weeks of release, the 2010 orignal had taken $108 Million 3 weeks into its run.
Going on wide release on its second weekend on the box office is the latest Tom Hanks movie wich races up to number 4 from number 16 this this weekend with $4.2 Million, a 99% increase over last weekend!
The movie has been getting very good reviews from critics and audiences and has taken $4.2 Million so far at the North American box office.
Dropping to number 4 this week as the movie starts its decent of the box office charts is the Marvel sequel movie to Black Panther which takes $3.3 Million on its 9th weekend, a 30% drop.
