Taking over at the top of the UK box office this weekend is the action comedy movie Bullet Train, set on, as the name suggest, the famous Bullet Train in Japan.

Also new this weekend is the event movie Westlife: Live From Wembley Stadium which makes its debut at number 8 with £468,214 and Sita Ramam which is new at 14 with £35,403.

Top Gun Maverick spends its firs weekend outside the top 5 this week, but the movie which has been on the chart for 11 weeks takes £609,409 for a total of £77.5 Million.

Highest new movie of the weekend

Hitting the top on its debut weekend is the new action comedy from director David Leitch which stars Brad Pitt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Taking a debut weekend gross of £2.8 Million, opening on Thursday, it easily hits the number one spot.

In comparison it it is far lower than the directors previous movie, Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw which opened to over £6 Million but its in the same ball park as Brad Pitt's last movie Ad Astra.

After making its debut at the top of the UK box office last weekend the DC Universe based animated feature drop to number 2 on its second weekend of release.

A weekend gross of £1.2 Million is a 55% drop over last weekend and gives the movie a total of £6.2 Million.

Falling to number 3 this weekend is the animated sequel from the Despicable Me universe which takes £1.1 Million, a 45% drop.

This gives the movie a total gross of £36.7 Million after 6 weeks of release and is the 5th top movie of 2022.

In comparison the the first Minions movie at 6 weeks in its run this is lower than the £40 Million that film made in 2015.

The fourquel movie in the Thor series of MCU movies falls to number 4 this weekend with £938,257, a 51% drop over its gross last weekend.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £33.2 Million over its 5 weeks of release and is the 7th top movie of 2022.

The movie is tracking just ahead of Thor: Ragnarok which had taken £29 Million 5 weeks into its run.

Director Baz Luhrmann bio-pic to the King of Rock and Roll has been consistently on the top 5 now for 7 weeks and takes £737,844 this weekend, a 33% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total gross of £22.6 Million in the UK and is the directors highest grossing movie.

The top total grossing film of the week was Days Of Thunder which had taken £8.2 Million after 9 weeks of release.

Todd Phillips directed Joked makes its box office debut at the top of the chart as it removes Downton Abbey after a 3 weeke spell while Judy manages a number 2 debut.

Joker

Starring Joaquin Phoenix the new villain movie from the DC Universe hits the top of the box office on its debut with an excellent £12.5 Million weekend.

This meakes the film the 57th top opening film in the UK ever, beating The Inbetweeners 2 and coming in behind The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.

With such a big opening expect the films gross to be one of DC's better grosses and with good reviews and Oscar potential this movie could run well into next year.

Judy

Renée Zellweger gives what critics are calling an Oscar worthy performance in the bio-pic movie of Judy Garland which opens at number 2 with a very respectable £2 Million.

Again with good reviews and mentions of Oscars this Rupert Goold directed movie could have a very good run in the UK.

Downton Abbey

The British high class movie falls from the top to number 3 on its 4th weekend of release with £1.4 Million giving the film a £23.1 Million total, the film is now the 10th highest grossing of 2019.

Hustlers

The surprise film of the autumn falls to number 4 this weekend with £590,645 but the Lorene Scafaria directed movie had taken £6.1 Million in the UK.

Ad Astra

The Brad Pitt starring space drama falls to number 5 this weekend with £467,983 after 3 weeks of release, but the films £5.5 Million total is very respectable.

The Lion King

The British public can't get enough of Disney's animated remake and this week if the top total grossing movie on the box office with £75 Million, after 12 weeks of release it is still at number 6!

Toy Story 4

Also from Disney is the longest run on this weeks box office as the Pixar film notches up a 16th weekend, the film has taken £65 Million so far.

The British aristocracy film stays at the top of the UK box office for a third week in a row while hold overs make up the rest of the top 5 with Ready Or Not the top new film at 4.

Downton Abbey

Staying at the top for a third weekend is the ITV series turned hit movie which takes £2.6 Million over the weekend.

This puts the films 3 week total at £19.3 Million, the film will go well over the £20 Million mark by next weekend.

Ad Astra

The space drama starring Brad Pitt stays put at number 2 this week with £1.2 Million which pushes its total UK gross to £4.5 Million after 2 weeks.

Hustlers

The surprise hit movie starring Jennifer Lopez goes back up to number 3 this weeeknd with £1.01 Million which pushes the films total gross to £5.03 Million.

Ready Or Not

Coming in as the top new film of the week is this quirky comedy action film starring Samara Weaving and Adam Brody which takes just under a million pound and is at number 4.

IT Chapter Two

Warner Bros. watch the IT sequel film fall to number 5 this weekend with a take of £940,513 after 4 weeks of release.

The film has really struggled to find its feet and the films total gross is currently £17.7 Million, it is starting to struggle now to get eyes on the screen and outside a boost over halloween it could vanish fast.

The Lion King

Disneys mega hit remake is still doing good business and is this week the top total grossing movie on the box office with £74.8 Million after 11 weeks of release.

Toy Story 4

Pixars sequel has the longest total run on the chart and this week is at number 11 after 15 weeks, the films total gross is £65.5 Million.

DreamWorks new animated tale Abominable enters at the top of the US box office on its debut weekend, knocking Downton Abbey down to number 2 after just a week at the top.

Abominable

The new animated tale from the makers of Shrek hits the top of the US box office on its debut weekend with a gross of $20.6 Million.

This is the lowest grossing debut weekend for the studio and in comparison last years Smallfoot which has a similar subject matter opened to $23 Million.

Downton Abbey

The high class of pomp and ceremony within the famous Abbey fell into second place after just a weekend at the top with a gross of $14.3 Million.

This takes the total films gross to $58.3 Million after 2 weeks of release.

Hustlers

The Jennifer Lopes movie has been getting a lot of attention over the last couple of weeks, and all good, the film is at 3 this week with a take of $11.3 Million.

The films total US gross is now at $80.5 Million after 3 weeks with the $100 Million milestone well and truly in its sights.

IT Chapter Two

Warner Bros. must be feeling a little disappointed with the performance of the horror follow up as the film falls to 4 this week with $10.2 Million.

The film has not performed any where near as well as the original IT movie and the film has made $193.7 Million after 4 weeks of release.

The movie could get to the $250 Million mark but it wont get much higher as it will now descend down the chart, with perhaps a little boost over the Halloween weekend.

The Brad Pitt starring space film falls to 5 this weekend with a $10.01 Million weekend pushing the film to $35.3 Million after 2 weeks of release.

The Lion King

Disneys animated remake continues to do very well on the box office and this week it falls only to 9 after 11 weeks on the chart and the film has taken a total of $540 Million in total in the US.
