UK weekend box office top 5 breakdown 4th - 6th November 2022

The Dwayne Johnson starring superhero movie remains strong this weekend as it notches up a third weekend at the top of the UK box office.

Taking a very respectable £2 Million it is a sizable but respectable 42% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £17 Million over its 3 weeks of release as it pushes its way towards the £20 Million milestone.

The movie is the only film this weekend to gross over £1 Million at the box office.

The children's comic book adaptation remains in second place this weekend as its takes £979,484, a 35% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a fantastic £10 Million over its 4 weeks of release and is becoming a major hit in the UK.

The Irish comedy drama starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson remains at number 3 this weekend as it takes £976,323, a very slim 23% drop from last weekend.

The movie has taken £6.2 Million in total over its 3 weeks of release.

Highest new movie this weekend

Highest new entry of the weekend comes from director Oliver Hermanus who adapts the 1952 Japanese film Ikiru directed by Akira Kurosawa.

The movie lands at number 4 this weekend with a debut gross of £670,206 which is the directors highest grossing movie in the UK.

The Japanese animated movie sequel makes its debut at the UK box office this weekend at number 5 with a debut gross of £559,623.

The movie which is a sequel to One Piece: Stampede from 2020, this movie far out grosses that movie which make its debut at the end of January with £69,174 and spent a single week on the box office.

Tenet spends a 7th weekend at the top of the UK box office, the longest for 20 years when Toy Story 2 and Gladiator both spent 7 weeks at the top in 2000.

This is unprecedented times but still it is note worthy that a movie can spend that much time at the top although it is with little competition, although After We Collided came close as did Cats & Dogs: Paws Unite! and this weeks top movie Saint Maud.

There are a number of new movies released this Friday and the bets are on that it could be the last weekend for Tenet, or just maybe the top new release this week might make the jump.

What is a worrying trend is the total top 15 this weekend is nearly a million pound down from last, meaning people are either still unsure of returning to cinemas, or they is nothing to draw them back!

Here is the this week UK box office Quickview (not including catalogue re-releases).

  • Number 1 - Tenet (7 Weeks)
  • Highest debut - Saint Maud (@2)
  • Longest run - Onward (18 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - Tenet (£16,563,616)

Here is a rundown of the top 5 movies 9th - 11th October 2020.

Tenet

Seven weeks in and Christopher Nolans 'saviour' is still at the top of the UK box office and this week takes £296K.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £16.5 Million after 7 weeks of release and it is now the 5 highest grossing movie of 2020 or third highest movie released in 2020.

This weekends total of 53% down from last weekend which is one of the movies biggest drops week on week.

Saint Maud

Highest new movie of the weekend lands at number 2 in the shape of director Rose Glass's horror movie which despite landing at 2 takes £263.4K in a ever decreasing market.

The movie has been well reviews with even a hint of Oscar nods so we could see this have a long chart life and it still has a chance to hit the top.

Akira

The 1988 movie that kicked off the manga obsession in the West gets a re-release and re-enters the box office at number 3 with £201.1K.

After We Collided

Falling to number 4 this week is the Roger Kumble directed movie that has given Tenet a run for its money in recent weeks and takes £194.2K this weekend, down 50% from last weekend.

The movie has taken a very respectable £3.5 Million in the UK since release 6 weeks ago.

Cats & Dogs: Paws Unite!

Last weeks top new movie falls to 5 this weekend with £184.3K, down 60% from last weekend giving the movie a second week total of £715.2K.
