New at the top of the UK video chart this week is the Clint Eastwood directed American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper.

The film was release on 16th January 2015 at Uk cinemas in a flurry of Oscar hype at number 2 to the tune of £2.5 million, but as the hype got greater the film hit the top spot the following week.

In a run lasting 7 weeks the film grossed a very reasonable £13.4 million at the UK box office, in America it took and incredible $350 million making it one of Eastwoods biggest films.

In the UK the film is the 329th highest grossing of all time and worldwide with a gross of $539 million it's the 121st highest grossing.

There was a whole flurry of new releases this week, with almost the whole top 5 changing, last weeks top film, Big Hero 6, fell to number 3 this week.

Other new film then are: Shaun The Sheep Movie at number 2, Ex Machina at number 4, Whiplash at number 5, Forbidden Kingdom at number 14 and The Gambler down at number 18.

Cinderella not only dominated the North American box office this week is also went global taking in $132 million dollars in all territories.

The Kenneth Branagh film is yet to open in many countries but it did debut in 32, so expect it's stay to be much longer as it opens worldwide.

Inside the top 5 we have Kingsman The Secret Service is at 2 with Chappie at 3, Focus falls from the top to 4 and new at 5 is Run All Night which opened in 20 territories and opened to $17 million.

Across the world box office this week Will Smith's starring vehicle Focus becomes the top film across the globe with a gross of $27 million.

It replaces Fifty Shades of Grey which has been at the top for the last couple of weeks, it falls to fifth with a gross of $23 million.

Chappie is the top new film of the week, a slither behind Focus with $27 million has it enter at number 2.

The rest of the top 5 has Jupiter Ascending at 3, thanks to a big opening in China, with $26 million and Kingsman The Secret Service at 4 with $25 million.

At the box office across the world this week Fifty Shades of Grey continues to reign as the highest grossing film.

It's third week of release has seen it gross $36 million, which brings it's global gross to $417 million.

With little in the way of new releases this week, Will Smith managed to get the top new film across the globe with Focus grossing $12.2 million.
