With many studios removing their theatrical movies from their original release dates to new ones because of the cinema closures, Disney have not rescheduled any of their films and today announce that Artemis Fowl will go direct to Disney+.

The film was originally set for release on 9th August 2019 before being moved to 29th May 2020, but unlike many of the studios schedule, like Mulan, Disney have decided to give the Kenneth Branagh directed adaptation of the Eoin Colfer book to their streaming service, there is no date yet when it will appear there.

This is a very interesting move from one of the most powerful studios in the world, and lets hope not, but could show the way forward for studios in this difficult time.

Maybe we will see a time when the big, potential $1 Billion movies, will get moved to other release windows, but the smaller films will go straight to streaming so there is not a massive back catalogue of films to get out in cinemas.

Time will tell, and with no sign of cinemas reopening there is no way to tell if some bigger movies will get the home entertainment treatment as well.

Its been a while since we heard anything about this film but today Disney have released a new trailer for the adaptation of Eoin Colfer book Artemis Fowl.

The movie adaptation is being directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars newcomer Ferdia Shaw as Artemis Fowl II along with Colin Farrell, Josh Gad and Judi Dench to name a few.

It looks like this is going to be a full on sci-fi adventure and could be a surprise hit for Disney, although not much marketing has gone into the film so who knows.

The books were a moderate hit in the UK, they came out at a similar time to the Harry Potter books and were completely overshadowed which was a shame as there is some good material in there.

Time will tell so in the mean time enjoy the trailer and May is not too far away.

On 9th August next year Disney bring their adaptation of author Eoin Colfer for Artemis Fowl book to the big screen and here they deliver the first trailer.

The film is in good hands being directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring the likes of Judi Dench so we should get a faithful adaptation of the books.

There are 8 books in the series and Disney will be hoping to get a franchise going to rival the likes of Harry Potter and join Disney's Marvel and Star Wars franchises.
