$0 In a very quiet marketplace the collaboration between director Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone Bugonia tops the UK box office with just £986,251.
This is the first time a movie has topped the UK box office with less than £1 Million since 25th August 2022 when Andre Rieus 2022 Maastricht Concert Happy Days are Here Again topped with just £798,706.
Last weeks top movie Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere falls to number 4 this week with a second weekend gross of £608,886 and has taken £2.8 Million.
Worthy of note is that the second highest new entry is the 40th Anniversary re-release of Back to the Future.
Highest new movie this weekend
The Roses, a make of The War of the Roses, starring Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch makes its debut a the top of the Uk box office this weekend with a £2.1 Million gross.
The current period of late summer into autumn is proving a very quiet period for the box office, last weekend was the lowest total gross for the top 15 in many a month and this weekend is only slightly higer.
Coming in at number 2 is the 50th Anniversary re-release of Steven Spielbergs classic blockbuster Jaws which takes £1.1 Million over the weekend.
Weapons~2026 falls to number 3 this weekend but is still pulling in the audiences with a slender 27% drop and has taken over £10 Million after 4 weeks.

Released in the US this weekend, Friday, 29th August 2025, there are 5 new releases looking to take your attention and where available could hit your local cinema and try and replace KPop Demon Hunters from the top of the North American box office.

An odd weekend at the global box office with no big new releases to make an impact and a climber to the top from an older movie.
That climber is Demon Slayer - Kimetsu No Yaiba: The Movie Infinity Castle which takes over at the top wth a $32 Million weekend gross.
The movie has taken $242.5 Million in total after 6 weeks in world cinemas.
Top new movie is the Netflix exclusive KPop Demon Hunters which takes $19.2 Million from a limited Saturday and Sunday release, although Netflix don't release exact box office figures for many countries.

A very quiet weekend at the UK box office has Weapons~2026 remain at the top for a third weekend in a row with a £1.1 Million weekend gross.
The movie has become a surprise big box office hit and has a total UK gross of £8.6 Million.
Which much of the top 5 staying in the same place this weekend the highest new movie is at number 6 with The Life of Chuck taking £486,294 on its debut.
Worth noting is the this weeks top 15 is one of the lowest weekend total for many weekend with little in the way of big blockbuster movies getting released, and summer holdovers like Superman~2025 and The Fantastic Four First Steps simply not bringing in the numbers.
