UK box office top 5 weekend breakdown 4th - 6th March 2022
As expected the country went crazy for the first solo Batman movie in a while, and the reviews were very favourable for Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader.
The movie made its debut with a weekend gross of £13.5 Million, this makes it the 50th top opening weekend ever in the UK.
It will no doubt get into the top grossing movie of all time in the UK but until then it is at least the 5th top grossing movie of 2022 on its debut with the possibility of jumping into the top 3 by next weekend.
The road ahead looks good until the end of March/beginning of April when there is a double big release of Morbius and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Tom Holland drops to number 2 this weekend with the video game adaptation which spent 3 weeks at number 1, this week it takes £1.3 Million, a hefty 57% drop over last weekend.
This gives the movie a total gross in the UK of £20 Million and its the third top movie of 2022.
The movie also takes the honor this weekend of the highest grossing movie based on a video game, taking over from Sonic the Hedgehog.
The mega smash animated sequel this weekend takes £1.03 Million as it drops to number 3, a big 61% drop on its 6th weekend of release.
It has now taken £30 Million in the UK as marks a new milestone in box office takings, it also is the top grossing movie, so far, of 2022.
One last honor it takes this weekend, it surpasses the total gross of the original Sing which took £28.9 Million in 2017.
Falling ot number 4 this weekend is the true life dramatic comedy starring Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren which takes £682,096 on its second weekend, a 31% drop, for a total of £2.7 Million.
Dropping to number 5 is the Kenneth Branagh directed Hercule Poirot mystery which takes £283,550 after 4 weeks, a big 63% drop, for a £7.1 Million total.
Spider-Man: No Way Home got its debut in the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, it has scored a massive £7.6 Million (including Ireland) on its opening day.
This is bigger than the opening gross for the last Bond movie No Time To Die which took £4.8 Million on its first day.
To date it is the UK's top movie of 2021 with over £96 Million, and it is the third top movie of all time behind Stat Wars: The Force Awakens and fellow Bond movie Skyfall.
No Time To Die was released in a time when the public was just beginning to get confidence in going back to public place safely which could have effected the movies opening day, although with COVID-19 cases going up in the UK again the opening day for Spider-Man: No Way Home is very impressive.
With this in mind it looks like we are heading for the biggest opening weekend in the UK and Ireland in the last few year, it will be inserting to see if it can top the 2021 list at the same time?
#SpiderManNoWayHome scores an astonishing £7.2 million at the UK box office (£7.6 million UK & Ireland) on its opening day. - By comparison the figure for #NoTimeToDie - which is now just shy of £100 million - was £4.5 million (£4.8 million UK&I).
