Due to restriction enforcement in England set by the Government due to large increases in COVID-19 cases cinemas in the UK will be closing their doors for the second time in 2020 from November 5th.

The restrictions, at the moment, are to be set in place until 2nd December, but there is every possibility that when it comes to public places like shops, bars and yes cinemas, it will take a bit longer to open up.

This means that there will likely be no box office to report in the coming weeks, and the reopening which could take a couple of weeks, will be slow with very few blockbuster film released.

Which films is this going to effect? It has been mainly small indie film which have enjoyed the exposure over the last couple of months, and in the coming week there were no sizeable film scheduled.

Ryan Reynolds next movie Free Guy is coming on 11th December, things may have re-opened by a week by then but this could be sent to 2021, also there is every possibility that it could see a digital release

On the 18th of December there is Death On The Nile from Kenneth Branagh, which may see a schedule change and just as easily it could go direct to streaming.

Coming 2 America has been sold to Amazon Prime and will make its debut on that platform around the same time frame.

Wonder Woman 1984 is the next big blockbuster due for release and there is every possibility that this will be pushed to spring 2021 , altohugh if this happens then there will be another round of schedule changes as we have Raya And The Last Dragon, Morbius and the much delayed No Time To Die all set around to debut around Spring.

Its yet another blow for the cinema industry and with many major companies already struggling how many closures can cinemas handle before going down.

Streaming is not the way most people want to see big blockbusters, but we also want to feel safe when we go out to enjoy a new movie, time will tell but lets hope this closure controls the virus and cinemas make the necessary safety measures so we can enjoy what could be a blockbuster packed 2021.

With the ever changing theatrical release schedule and many moving to streaming VOD services Bill & Ted Face The Music is again on the move, this time to 1st September and its getting a dual cinema and VOD release, we also got a new poster and mini trailer today!

The movie is directed by Dean Parisot and has a returning cast of Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, who else could play Bill And Ted?

The release date has shifted to 1st September 2020 in light of the COVID-19 pandemic as has happened to so many films during the last 6 months, and in a move which should surprise no-one the movie will be released on streaming VOD services as well as a release in selected theatres.

Synopsis Of: The Movie

Now enduring the monotony of middle-aged life, William "Bill" S. Preston, Esq. and Theodore "Ted" Logan are warned by a visitor from the future of the need for them to create a song in 78 minutes that will save all life on Earth and the entire universe.

The pair work with their families, old friends, famous musicians, and each other to complete the task.

Check out the movie page for more information on this film.

To soften the blow we are also treated to a new mini trailer which can be seen below.

Keanu Reeves has been doing the full media circus of late to promote his new film Henry's Crime, which unfortunately failed to chart in the top 15 this week with a relatively low weekend gross of £64, 508, but while doing the rounds there was inevitable questions about the rumours of a new Bill and Teds movie, it's been 20 years now and according to Reeves there is a script although he's not seen it yet, but it may well happen.

It's also being reported that during a talk at the London School of Performing Arts Reeves said that he had met with the Wachowskis and discussed a possible return to the Matrix franchise. Reports say that the action will blow the mind in a similar way that the original, and best no argument, did back in 1999.

Throwing all this into confusion now is that reports are appearing that Reeves in fact didn't make any such statement, so what gives? One this that is for certain though is that with the amount of buzz that this possible untrue rumours has created means that there is certainly an appetite still out there for The Matrix, and although the 2 sequels never came anywhere near matching the original the series still has fans.

If the Wachowskis have noticed all this hype maybe they and Warner would sit round a table and work out a way to, successfully, bring this series back to the big screen, and yes it was rumoured to be in 3D.

For many fans The Lord of the Rings is the greatest trilogy of films ever and when Peter Jackson announced that we would not direct the prequel, The Hobbit, the fan based moaned, then he announced that Guillermo del Toro would be directing and the fans cheered, then the series lost del Toro and the fans are sad again.

What's happened? It seems because of the legal problems with the rights to the film with MGM and Warner it's taken so long to get the ball rolling on the film del Toro has simply run out of time and had to leave.

Jackson and his staff are naturally all on board still and fighting to get the film made but the loss of the director is a massive blow, del Toro's films like Hellboy and Pans Labyrinth have proved that the director is more than capable of handling the film and in actual fact would have given the production the perfect style to accompany Jacksons originals.

Where will the films go now? Who knows, Sam Rami has been connected, will be interesting to see where it goes with him, Spidey trilogy shows he can miss on occasions but Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell can show he has style, but maybe, just maybe Jackson will take the helm himself.

This is a big blow for the production and puts things on rocky ground; del Toro will still help with the script, which is something. Let hope a director can be found who can deliver, Neill Blomkamp anyone?
