Disney will be hoping for a big hit with sequel movie The Marvels after a couple of under performing movies, the Captain Marvel sequel has been given a 12A age rating for moderate fantasy violence.

Returning once again is Brie Larson as Captain Marvel who has previously appeared in Basmati Blues and Remember the Daze, it also features once again Samuel L. Jackson who has appeared in over 150 movies including Afro Samurai Resurrection and Strictly Business.

On directing duties this time around is Nia DaCosta who has previously helmed Candyman~2021 from 2021 and Little Woods.

Movie Synopsis

While investigating a wormhole linked to the Kree, Monica Rambeau's powers become entangled with those of Kamala Khan and Carol Danvers. The trio team up to determine why they are swapping places with each other every time they use their powers.

Depicting a fictionalised version of the life of Marilyn Monroe adapted from the book Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates, the movie has been given an 18 age rating in the UK for sexual violence, strong sex, domestic abuse

Elf was first released in the UK at the beginning of December 2003, it never hit the top then spending 4 weeks in the runner up spot, exactly 17 years later the movie get to the top.

Highest new movie of the week is a new telling of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol while outside the top 5 Katherine Jenkins Christmas Spectacular makes a debut at number 10, director Rob Savage's move Host is new at 14 and the re-edit of The Godfather Part III is new at 15.

After 17 years director Jon Favreau's festival favourite hits the top of the UK box office, albeit under strange circumstances, with a weekend gross of £48,244, a 97% increase from last weekend.

The big increase from last weekend is due to the increased number of cinemas that have re-opened, but the movie has taken a total of £17 Million since its release in 2003.

Home Alone

The Chris Columbus movie falls from the top this week with £36,878, a 93% increase from last weekend!

This pushes the movies total gross to £9.64 Million since its 1990 release.

Wolfwalkers

Highest film of the weeks that is not a re-release is this animation from directors Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart which takes £26,171, a 94% increase over last weekend.

The movie has now taken £74,874 since its release 4 weeks ago.

A Christmas Carol

Highest new movie of the week lands at number 4, a re-telling of the classic Christmas story, this time directed by Jacqui Morris and starring Simon Russell Beale and Martin Freeman.

The film takes £22,366 on its debut weekend of release.

Two By Two: Overboard!

Finally on the top 5 is the former number 1 movies which takes £21,952 on its 7th weekend of release giving the animated take a total gross of £1 Million, it finally made it over the Million line!
