Disney and Jon Favreau live action version of the classic Rudyard Kipling book makes in incredible showing at the box office this week.

Making it debut at the top with a £9.9 million weekend the film has become the 63rd highest opening weekend in the UK ever, in 2016 Batman V Superman and Deadpool opened higher.

With such a strong opening the film is sure to follow in the footsteps of Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland and be a massive live action film for Disney.

Falling from the top in dramatic style this week is The Huntsman: Winters War which drops to, a second weekend of £0.6 million brings the total to £4.4 million.

Highest total grossing movie on the box office this week is former number 1 film Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice which has now grossed £35.3 million after 4 weeks of play.

A year ago - Fast and Furious 7 retained its hold on the top and with a strong top 4 Child 44 was the top new film at 4.

Five years ago - Scream 4 took over at the top on its debut weekend leaving Rio to fall to number 2.

Ten years ago - Ice Age: The Meltdown stayed at the top for another weekend leaving Scary Movie 4 to enter the chart at number 2.

Fifteen years ago - Bridget Jones's Diary made its debut at the top while Rugrats In Paris The Movie fell to number 3.

Twenty years ago - Broken Arrow was new at the top while Toy Story fell into the runner up position after 3 weeks at the top.

Twenty five years ago - Highlander II The Quickening was the top new film of the week with Quigley Down Under falling into number 3.

The Divergent Series Insurgent gets dethroned from the top after 3 weeks and gets replaced by Disney's live action Cinderella on its debut.

Cinderella hit UK cinemas on 27th March this year, it entered the box office at number 1 and had an incredible 11 run on the official chart then another 11 outside.

The film took an excellent £21.1 million at the UK box office making it the 163rd highest grossing film ever in the UK.

Globally the film has to date taken $542 million which makes is the 125th highest grossing film of all time.

Insurgent falls from the top to number 3 although it did have an unprecedented 3 weeks at the top.

Also new this week is: Child 44 which enters at number 2, Two by Two which is new at number 5, A Little Chaos which is new at 8 and The Falling which is new at 18.

Making it a third week on the trop Fast and Furious 7 retains the top of the box office taking £3.03 million for the weekend, bringing it's total to a fantastic £32 million.

Furious 7 should overtake Fifty Shades of Grey as the highest grossing film of the year by next weekend, it continues to dominate across the globe as well and had now taken over $1 Billion.

Without much doubt this will be the last week it spends a the top as the next is the successful Marvel universe films is released this Thursday.

Highest new film of the week enters the box office at number 4 in the form of Child 44 which grosses just over half a million pound.

Also new this week is the Alan Rickman directed A Little Chaos which enters at 7.

A year ago - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was the highest new film of the week at the top which removed Rio 2 which fell to number 2.

Five years ago - Debuting at the top was Roman tearjerker Dear John, it removed Clash of The Titans with fell to number 2.

Ten years ago - Nicole Kidman starred in The Interpreter which debuted at the top of the box office sending The Amityville Horror down to number 2.

Fifteen years ago - Pok�mon The First Movie was the highest new film which made its debut at the top, Erin Brockovich fell from the top to the number 2 spot.

Twenty years ago - Muriels Wedding was the top new film of the week with Dumb and Dumber falling down to number 2 from the top spot.

There is simply no stopping Furious 7 (Fast and Furious 7) at the moment with the film yet again outgrossing all other film combined in the US this weekend and taking a further $60 million.

The 10 day gross for Furious 7 now stands at $252 million, only one other film has ever taken more after 10 days, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Highest new film of the week is the romantic drama The Longest Ride starring Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson which takes $15.5 million.

There were no other new releases on the US box office chart this week. Coming this weekend are Child 44 and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, although they probably wont challenge Furious 7.
