Across the globe this week Jason Bourne expands its territories to 63 countries on release, including China now, and goes to the top of the global box office.

The Matt Damon starring film made $63 million over the week and has to date made $347 million globally.

Also benefitting from a Chinese release is Ice Age: Collision Course, still on release in 38 countries the film took $50 million over the week to bring its total gross to $367 million.

Highest new film of the week is Don't Breath, released in 8 countries and headed up by its US release the film took $28 million over the week.

Top total grossing film across the gross this week is The Secret Life of Pets, still riding high at number 4 it has grossed $724.4 million.

The global top 5 looks like this:

  1. Jason Bourne - $62,029,490
  2. Ice Age: Collision Course - $50,480,000
  3. Suicide Squad - $31,710,000
  4. The Secret Life Of Pets - $28,359,810
  5. Don't Breathe - $28,015,000

This week was the global release of the latest Bourne movie which saw it dominate the box office with its wide release in 47 counties.

America led the way and create just over half of the global box box office gross for the movie, the total was 110 million, far greater the last film in the series The Bourne Legacy.

This is a good start for the fifth film in the series and fourth starring Matt Damon and with positive reviews it should see the film gross some impressive numbers.

Falling from the top is Star Trek Beyond, which like its predecessor had a strong opening weekend but a heavy second frame.

The film took $37 million this week from 41 countries to bring its total gross to $160.5 million, and with much of the films gross bound to be front loaded this could mean trouble for the franchise.

Also new this week is League Of Gods at number 5 which has an impressive launch from 7 countries for a $30 million opening week.

Highest total grossing movie on the top 10 global box office this week is Finding Dory which has now taken $469 million.

The global top five looks like this.

  1. Jason Bourne - $110,142,540
  2. The Secret Life Of Pets - $47,712,325
  3. Star Trek Beyond - $37,000,000
  4. Ice Age: Collision Course - $30,000,000
  5. League Of Gods - $30,000,000

This week saw the release of a new Star Trek movie at the global box office and as with all the others in the new' universe created by JJ Abrahams it is the top film globally.

Its a softer debut than Star Trek or sci-fi is used to despite good reviews and seemingly a better film then the last one but a $89.6 million debut from 38 countries is strong enough to see it dominate.

The legend of Tarzan is at 2 this week and is getting stronger across the globe as it has a staggered release, its not performing in the US but it is globally.

The film took $51 million from 62 countries for a total global gross of $260 million to date.

Biggest news of the week is the string debut for Skiptrace, the Jackie Chan action film had a big release in Asia and from 3 countries took $44 million on its debut.

Independence Day: Resurgence is the top total grossing movie on the weeks top ten global box office with $361.2 million.

Here is the global top 5.

  1. Star Trek Beyond - $89,600,000
  2. The Legend Of Tarzan - $51,130,000
  3. Ice Age: Collision Course - $51,000,000
  4. Skiptrace - $44,000,000
  5. The Secret Life Of Pets - $39,330,275

A change at the top of the world box office charts has the Ghostbusters reboot taking over from The Secret Life of Pets.

On its debut week of release the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot takes $65.1 million dollars from just 4 countries.

An excellent result for the female led Ghostbusters movie, although good reviews have helped and the marketing push to banish the negativity has certainly helped.

The Secret Life of Pets is still doing big numbers across the globe and this week despite falling to number 2 grosses $54.9 million bringing its total gross to $253.9 from 10 countries.

Highest total grossing film on the global box office this week is Finding Dory, the Disney/Pixar movie has to date grossed $721.7 million.

Widest release of the week id Now You See Me 2 which is currently out in 78 countries although the film has only grossed $267 million.

Here is the global top 5 for this week

  1. Ghostbusters - $65,100,000
  2. The Secret Life Of Pets - $54,964,425
  3. Ice Age: Collision Course - $53,500,000
  4. Finding Dory - $47,540,000
  5. The Legend Of Tarzan - $33,120,000
