Spending a second weekend at the top of the UK box office is the film version of the Musical Matilda, while the highest debut of the week is Violent Night at number 3.
Also new this week is Cbeebies Panto: Dick Whittington and His Cat which takes just over £78 thousand at number 12 while at the very bottom of the chart we have Home Alone, a 30th anniversary release of The Muppet Christmas Carol and Elf making seasonal re-releases.
Soending a second weekend at the top of the UK box office the musical starring Emma Thompson takes £2.5 Million, a 39% drop from its debut.
This gives the movie a total UK gross of £7.8 Million after 2 weeks of release, comparing it to the 1996 movie, adjusted for inflation Matilda would have taken £11 Million on its second weekend and £30 Million in total.
Remaining at number 2 is the Marvel sequel movie to Black Panther which takes £1.5 Million, a 44% drop over last weekend.
This gives the movie a total gross of £29.4 Million in the UK, behind that of Black Panther which had taken £39.8 Million 4 weeks into its box office run.
Highest new movie this weekend
Making its debit at number 3 this weekend the Die Hard meets Home Alone horror movie starring David Harbour as Santa Claus and directed by Tommy Wirkola comes in with less than would have been expected.
The movie takes under £1 Million on its debut with a gross of £822,646, its still early December and this could see a boost as audiences get more into the Christmas spirit.
Disney's latest animated take falls to number 3 this week with a gross of £442,409 on its second weekend of release, a 47% drop over its debut.
This gives the movie a total gross of £1.3 Million at the UK & Northern Ireland box office.
This seems like bad news for Disney as the movie seems to be failing to pull in audiences, Encanto from the same time in 2021 took £1.2 Million on its second weekend for a total of £3.3 Million.
The Ralph Finnes starring movie stays at number 5 on its 3rd weekend of release with a gross of £334,430, a small 22% drop.
The movie has taken £2.6 Million in total in the UK.
