On the UK video charts the sequel movie London Has Fallen makes its debut at the top knocking off The Divergent Series Allegiant.

London Has Fallen how UK cinemas on 4th March 2016 as a sequel to Olympus Has Fallen from 2013, the film hit the top of the box office on its debut weekend.

A sizeable hit the film was on the box office for 5 weeks and then hung around cinemas for another 8 weeks after that.

A £10.9 million total gross in the UK isn't bad for a disaster movie of this kind, but hte film did perform far better in the UK than in other countries, possibly the setting being part of the reason.

After a debut at the top last week The Divergent Series Allegiant falls to number 3 this week with Kung Fu Panda 3 holding firm at number 2.

Other new film this week are The Witch at number 5 and High Rise at number 7, Norm of The North is new at 11 and The Trust debuts at number 12.

On the UK video chart this week The Divergent Series Allegiant makes its debut at the top moving Grimsby well and truly out of the way.

Allegiant was released in the UK on 11th March 2016 and made its debut at number 2 of that week with Kung Fu Panda 3 beating it to the top.

Ironically it is the other way round on the video charts, Kung Fu Panda 3 is also released this week on video and makes its debut at number 2.

The Divergent Series Allegiant was a small hit at the box office only staying for 4 weeks with a total UK gross of £4.3 million.

This is a poor showing for the series, the first 2 films made £6 and £7 million respectively so this is a low.

Last weeks top film Grimsby falls from the top to number 4 after only one week and will most likely continue on a fast face out of the chart.

Other new film this week are: as already mentioned Kung Fu Panda 3 is at 2, The Boy is new at number 6 and Hail, Ceasar! is at 7 and finally Forsaken is new at 9.

This week across the world the latest X-Men film X-Men Apocalypse made its debut and took over at the top but it wasn't all bad news for Captain America: Civil War.

X-Men took $106.6 million dollars with its launch in 76 countries, but not America, and took over as the top film.

In the world of cinema it is becoming quite common for one Marvel franchise to take over from another Marvel franchise, especially when from competing studios.

With 41% of the non American market and topping the X-Men debuts in many of them this latest version of the X-Men films could be one of the biggest to date.

Captain America: Civil War has now become the first movie of 2016 to break the $1 billion mark (although The Force Awakens did it in 2016) and the film now stands at $1.05 billion and is number 3 this week.

It is also of course the highest total grossing movie on the world box office and is still showing in 55 countries, although with this and Batman V Superman slowing later in their run are we starting to see a letup in the superhero dominance of the box office? Here is the world box office top 5

  1. X-Men: Apocalypse - $101.6 million
  2. The Angry Birds Movie - $94 million
  3. Captain America: Civil War - $30.7 million
  4. The Divergent Series: Allegiant - $9.9 million
  5. The Jungle Book - $7.4 million

At the world box office this week Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice retained its lead for a second weekend with a weekly gross of $137.4.

The film has a massively wide release of 68 countries, althoug not the highest on the chart, that goes to The Divergent Series Allegiant which is released in 80 countries.

Batman V Superman has now taken $682.8 million after its 2 weeks of release, the film may struggle to get to $1 billion as this is quite a hefty drop from last week.

Highest new film on the world box office is The Bodyguard, not the 1992 film with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner but a Hong Kong Chinese film directed by Sammo Hung.

The film makes its debut at number number 3 with $25 million from the 6 countries its released in.

highest total grossing film on the box office this week is Zootopia, at number 2 this week with an incredible $787.6 million.
