A static top 5 this weekend leaves Thor: Love and Thunder at the top for a second weekend while the top new movie of the weekend cam in outside the top 5 at number 6 with The Railway Children Return.

UK weekend box office top 5 breakdown 15th - 17th July 2022

Remaining at the top of the UK box office this weekend is the fourth in the Thor series of movies which is also part of the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The movie suffers a hard fall in its second weekend with 67% from a weekend of £4.06 Million.

The movie has taken a total gross in the UK of £20.8 Million which a 1% above the previous movie Thor: Ragnarok.

The animated sequel movie, which is a spin off of the greater Despicable Me franchise remains at number 2 this weekend with £2.6 Million, a slim 38% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now taken £23.1 Million in the UK and this weekend breaks into the top 10 movies of 2022 at number 9.

The school summer holidays are about to start in the UK, and with the heatwave the Europe is experience at the moment this could work in the movies favour and it could see a return to the top.

The Baz Luhrmann directed bio-pic sits at number 3 this weekend with £1 Million, a very slim 24% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £16 Million after 3 weeks of release.

Still inside the top 5 after 8 weeks of release is the Tom Cruise sequel movie which has shattered expectation and this week takes £810,638, its first weekend taking under £1 Million.

Incredibly after 7 weeks this is a very slim 19% drop over last week and pushes the movies total to £72 Million, it is by far the top movie of 2022.

Jurassic UK: Dominion

The dinosaur movie takes £383,502 on its 6th weekend of release, a reasonable 32% drop, which takes it total gross to £32 Million making it the 5th top movie of 2022.

Highest new movie this weekend

Highest new movie of the weekend comes in at number 6 in the shape of the 52 years in the making sequel to The Railway Children which starred a young Jenny Agutter.

This new movie is directed by Morgan Matthews and makes its debut with £365,481.

There are three new releases on the global box office this weekend with Thor: Love and Thunder the highest as it makes its debut at the top of the global box office.

Also new is Detective Vs. Sleuths at number 6 with $22 Million from just 3 countries and I Love You (Bahebek) at number 10 with $2.6 Million from 5 countries.

Making its debut at the top of the global box office is the latest movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fourth in the Thor series of movies which reunites Thor with Jane Foster.

The movie gets a release in 48 countries and takes $302 Million on its debut weekend.

After climbing to number 1 last weekend as the movie went wide across the globe this weekend the movie falls to number 2 unable to hold off the might of Thor: Love and Thunder.

Released in a huge 65 countries the movie takes $45.5 Million over the weekend, a reasonable 48% drop on its 3rd weekend.

This gives the animates sequel a total gross of $399.8 Million after 3 weeks of release.

Still inside the top 3 on its 7th weekend, the Tom Cruise sequel movie to Top Gun tales $38 Million this weekend, a 38% drop, from 66 countries.

This gives the movie a total global gross of $1.18 Million and makes it by far the top grossing movie of 2022.

The Chinese movie about a relationship between a funeral director and a young girl is still released in a single country and this weekend is at 4 with $27 Million, a 37% drop.

This takes the movies total global gross to $176.2 Million after 3 weeks of release.

Jurassic World: Dominion

Finally on the top 5, and falling to 5 is the latest dinosaur movie from director Colin Trevorrow which takes $23.9 Million on its 6th weekend of release, a 44% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total global gross of $876.4 Million and the third top movie of 2022 so far.

The movie will miss out of the one billion mark globally which will makes it the lowest grossing movie of the Jurassic World series which have all gone over the global milestone.

Flying in at the top of the North American box office this weekend is the new movie in the MCU series of films Thor: Love and Thunder, which is also the only new movie of the week on the top 15!

Directed by the same director as Thor: Ragnarok Taika Waititi the fourth movie in the Thor franchise makes it debut at the top of the North American box office.

A debut gross of $144.1 Million gives it a better opening than Thor: Ragnarok but its not as good as the last two MCU movies Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

After making its debut at the top of the North American box office last weekend the sequel movie to Minions falls one place to number 2 with a weekend gross of $46 Million, a 57% drop on its second weekend.

The movie now has a total gross of $210.6 Million after 2 weekend and is the 5th top movie of 2022.

Still inside the top 3 after 7 weeks of release the Tom Cruise starring sequel to Top Gun drops to number 2 this weekend with $15.5 Million, a 40% drop.

The movie has now taken $597 Million in the US, it will pass $600 Million by next weekend and it is the top movie of 2022 by quite a margin.

It is also on the verge of braking into the top 10 movie of all time in North America as it currently sits at number 12.

The Elvis Presley bio-pic from director Baz Luhrmann falls to number 4 this weeeknd with $11 Million on its 3rd weekend, a 30% drop over last weekend.

The movie has not taken a total gross of $91.3 Million at the North American box office.

Jurassic World: Dominion

As the Dino franchise movie starts to end its run it falls to number 5 this weekend with $8.5 Million, a 46% drop over last weekend, which gives the movie a total US gross of $350 Million.

The movie is currently the 4th top movie of 2022, but it will end up as the lowest grossing of the Jurassic World trilogy of movies behind both Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Disney and Marvel release their new movie this weekend and as is the norm these days at the cinema Thor: Love and Thunder makes its debut at the top.

Also new this weekend is London Nahi Jaunga at number 8 with a debut gross of £92,117 while Brian and Charles is new at number 9 with £71,890.

There was a double bill cinema event this weekend of Dr. Who and the Daleks and Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 A D, currently the only feature films in the 60 year history of Doctor Who, which took £64,730.

Finally at number 15 there is Quaid E Azam Zindabad making a debut with £14,447.

UK weekend box office top 5 breakdown 8th - 10th July 2022

The fourth film in the Thor series of movie from the grander Marvel Cinematic Universe which is once again directed by Taika Waititi as was Thor: Ragnarok.

The movie makes its debut at the top of this weeks box office with £12.2 Million which is lover than the last two Marvel movies, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home but in the same ballpark as the last Thor movie.

The road ahead looks good for the movie with no new competition until Bullet Train in early August, although with middle of the road reviews the current releases, especially Minions: The Rise of Gru could see its number 1 run cut short.

Giving way to Thor: Love and Thunder the Minions sequel drops to number 2 on its second weekend of release, at least for this weekend.

The movie takes £4.3 Million, a large 58% drop over its debut last weekend, this gives it a total gross of £18.4 Million.

This places the movie on the top 10 movies of 2022 at number 10.

Director Baz Luhrmann's bio-pic of the King of Rock 'N' Roll falls to number 3 this weekend with a gross of £1.3 Million, a 55% drop over last weekend, on its 3rd weekend of release.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £13.8 Million.

The Top Gun sequel movie continues to do amazingly well on the UK box office and this weekend slips just a single place on its 7th weekend of release with just over £1 Million, a 62% drop over last weeeknd.

The movie has now taken a eye popping £70 Million in its UK box office run and is by far the top movie of 2022.

Jurassic World: Dominion

As the Dino movie starts to end its UK box office run it drop to number 5 on the chart with £560,166 over the weekend, a large 69% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total UK gross of £31.7 Million after 5 weeks of release, it will end up the lowest grossing of the Jurassic World series of movies.

Minions: The Rise of Gru makes its North American box office debut at the top with a fantastic July 4th weekend gross.

Also new this weekend is Mr. Malcolms List at number 7 with $826,387 and Fourth of July at number 12 with $218,722.

The sequel animated movie from the Despicable Me series makes its debut at the top of the North American box office this weekend with the best July 4th debut ever.

The Minions sequel movie takes $107 Million over the American holiday which also means it instantly becomes the 8th top movie of 2022.

The mega smash hit sequel movie starring Tom Cruise continues to perform well above anyones expectation as it remains at number 3 this weekend with $25 Million on its 6th weekend of release, a tiny 13% drop.

the movie has now taken a eye watering $564 Million at the North American box office and is by far the top movie of 2022, it is also the 12th top movie of all time on North America as it gets ready to break the top 10.

After making its debut at the top last weekend the Elvis Presley bio-pic from Baz Luhrmann jumps over Top Gun maverick to spend its second weekend at number 3.

The movie takes $18.4 Million on its second weekend, a resonable 14% drop over last weekend giving the movie a total gross of $66 Million.

Jurassic World: Dominion

The threequel dino movie drops to number 4 this weekend on its 4th week of release with $16 Million, a 40% drop over last weekend.

the movie has now taken $332 Million at the North American box office making it the 4th top movie of 2022.

The movie is tracking behind the last 2 movies in this series of Jurassic movies, with Jurassic World having taken over half a billion by this point in its run, but Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was only a tiny but ahead with $363 Million.

Falling to number 4 is the horror movie from director Scott Derrickson which made its debut at number 4 last weekend.

A $12 Million second weekend, 48% down, takes the movies total gross to $47 Million.
