Transformers: Age of Extinction tops the UK video chart on it's first week of release on Blu-ray and DVD.

The fourth in the Transformers films was released at the UK box office on 11th June of this year taking £11.7 million on it's debut week of release.

The film was on the box office chart for only 5 weeks taking £19 million in the process, and is only the 187th highest grossing film of all time in the UK, it is the lowest of the series.

World wide the film fared slightly better, it grossed $1.07 billion and is the 11th highest grossing film of all time, much of that was from Japan where it is the highest grossing film in that territory.

Falling from the top to fifth is X-Men: Days of Future Past after it debuted at the top last week.

Other new film this week are - How to Train Your Dragon 2 at 2 - 22 Jump Street at 4 - Earth to Echo at 9 - The Purge Anarchy at 10 - The House of Magic at 18 - Pudsey The Dog The Movie at 19

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes holds off the challenge of Hercules, The Purge Anarchy and Earth to Echo to keep the top spot at the UK box office for another week.

Now in it's second weekend of release Dawn of the Apes easily hangs on to the top spot with a weekend take of £3.7 million, this brings it's total gross to £17 million after 10 days of release.

Highest new film of the week is Dwayne Johnson in a retelling of Hercules, an all out action film rather than historical retelling of the Greek myth it's directed by Brett Ratner.

Hercules took a gross of £1.5 million on it's opening weekend, it has a long was to go to even be one of Johnson's best films as he's been part of the Fast and Furious series and The Mummy series.

Likewise Brett Ratner has been part of the X-Men series and directed the 2 Rush Hour movies, and also directed a Hannibal Lector film, all high grossing franchises.

Hercules could sink quite fast especially with some of the new releases coming in the next few weeks which will be ultimately bigger box office hits.

There are plenty of other new releases this week in the form of - The Purge Anarchy at 3 - Earth to Echo at 6 - Kickat 8 - The House of Magic at 10

This time last year new at the top was The Wolverine based on the X-Men universe which topped on it's debut knocking Monsters University into 2nd.

Five years ago Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was still at the top in it's second week and The Proposal with Sandra Bullock was new at 2.

Ten years ago Spider-Man 2 held onto the top spot for a second week with the highest new film being Thunderbirds at 3.

Fifteen years ago it was Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace holding onto the top spot for a second week, and with nothing daring to open up in the wake of such a big film the highest new film was Hindustan Ki Kasam at 10.

The ever busy Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) is back on the big screen this weekend with the action film Hercules, based on the story of the Greek God and son of Zeus.

Probably not sticking to the legend too closely this is an all out action film that should do well at the UK box office, probably wont have the power to interrupt Apes or Transformers but a healthy top 3 might be in order.

Earth to Echo is the story of a small alien robot that comes to earth and is found by a trio of boys, the rest is predicable and their lives will change forever.

This is aimed squarely at the kids, but with the fantastic weather currently being experienced in the UK this could just get a top 5 entry.

Other new films this week - The Purge: Anarchy - Joe - The House of Magic - Believe

This week Transformers: Age of Extinction was the top film in America for the second week running and again far out grossed the rest of the box office.

In it's second weekend of release the battling robots took $36,400,000 and has now grossed $174,746,000 over it's 10 day run so far.

Not content with making a big slash in the US it has made nearly $400 million worldwide and is still to open in many countries including the UK where it's released this Friday.

Highest new film of the week is Melissa McCarthy in Tammy, opening with a gross of $21.2 million, thats $15 million behind Transformers.

Other new film on the US box office - Deliver Us from Evil at 3 - Earth to Echo at 6
