This gives the movie a total gross of £6.3 Million after two weekends of release, it will be challenged for the top spot this coming weekend from the new Zendaya movie Challengers.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh his retelling of the Death On the Nile hits the top of the US box office over the Super Bowl weekend which is traditionally a quiet weekend at the North American box office.

Landing at number 2 is the romantic comedy Marry Me while also making its debut on the top 5 this weekend if a new Liam Neeson movie Blacklight which lands at 5.

Also worth noting is that 2 Oscar contenders for best movie go back up the box office top 15, Licorice Pizza expands into more cinemas as increases its box office 30% over last weekend and is back to number 9 and Belfast also directed by Kenneth Branagh goes back up to number 13 with a 30% increase.

US box office top 5 weekend breakdown 11th - 13th February 2022

Death On the Nile

A remake or a retelling? Director Kenneth Branagh brings his vision of Agatha Christie's fames novel, last seen at cinemas in 1978 when director John Guillermin brought his version to the big screen.

Starring a whole host of A-list stars this version tops the box office with $12.8 Million, a good strategic movie to launch during the Super Bowl weekend as the one after is usually hit by a blockbuster, this year that honor goes to Uncharted.

The movie was delayed by over a year due to the pandemic and in comparison to the directors previous Christie adaptation, Murder On the Orient Express this takes far less than that movies $28 Million debut.

Jackass Forever

Last weeks top movie falls to number 2 this week as the Jackass crew get a 65% drop over last weekend with $8 Million.

The movie has now taken $37.4 Million in North America and is the 4th top movie if 2022 so far.

Marry Me

Billed as a good old fashioned romantic comedy, this Jennifer Loper vehicle lands at number 3 this weekend with $8 Million which is pretty standard for a JLo romantic comedy.

Spider Man: No Way Home

The Marvel/Sony Universe movie continues to do well at the box office 9 weeks after its release and takes $7.1 Million over the weekend, a small 25% drop over last week.

Having taken $759 Million over its box office run the movie is still the top grosser or 2022, and will have likely overtaken Avatar as the third top movie on North America ever by the time you read this.

Blacklight

Liam Neeson continues his run of 'man on a mission with a gun' movies in this action movies which sees the action star uncover a government conspiracy and attempt to resolve it himself.

The movie lands at number 5 on the box office with $3.6 Million over the weekend.

Disney release their new movie Encanto at the US box office this weekend and hit the top of the box office again this year while the much anticipated House of Gucci comes in at number 3 on its debut.

Also making a debut on this weeks top 5 is Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City at number 5 while further down the box office Paul Thomas Anderson's new movie Licorice Pizza makes its debut at 13 with $336,000 and For the Love of Money starring James Caan is new at 15 with $232,000.

Encanto

Disney release their latest animated feature in cinemas only this weekend and the movie makes its debut at the top of the US box office with a weekend gross of $27 Million.

It was the Thanksgiving week in the US so the movie was released on Wednesday before the big day and the movie has actually taken $40.5 Million since release.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

The Ghostbusters sequel falls to number 2 after a week at the top with a gross of $24.5 Million, a 44% drop on its second weekend.

Despite the not so good reception from the review press audiences has enjoyed the movie and this week its total gross sits at $87.7 Million.

House of Gucci

Director Ridley Scott brings his next movie to the big screen and had acting giants Lady Gaga and Adam Driver among other as he brings the true story of the creation of fashion empire Gucci to the big screen.

The movie takes $14.2 Million over its debut weekend of release but again it was released on the Wednesday of Thanksgiving week and has to date taken $22 Million.

Eternals

Director Chloe Zhao Marvel movie falls to number 4 this weekend with a gross of $7.9 Million, a small 27% drop over last weekend, taking the movies total to $150.6 Million and it is now the 7th top movie if 2021.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

Director Johannes Roberts takes over helming a Resident Evil movie from Paul W.S. Anderson, and after rebooting the franchise and sticking closer the original video game source he brings the movie to the box office at number 5.

The movie takes $5.2 Million on its debut weekend.

Lady GaGa gives an Oscar worthy performance in director Ridley Scott's next movie about the famous Gucci fashion empire and the ruthless length they stretch to keep their brand alive.

The movie stars Lady GaGa and Adam Driver as Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci, as well as the likes of Salma Hayek and Jared Leto.

The movie is directed by Oscar winner Ridley Scott who brought us The Last Duel earlier this year which also starred Adam Driver.

Director Edgar Wright brings his unique style back to the cinema in this drama horror movie Last Night in Soho which is given an 18 rating by the BBFC for strong bloody violence.

The movie stars Thomasin McKenzie as the girl in modern times and Anya Taylor-Joy as her time companion, the supporting cast include Matt Smith and Diana Rigg.

As mentioned the movie is directed by Edgar Wright who is probably best known for The Cornetto Trilogy, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The Worlds End.
