Its been a busy time at this years CinemaCon festival and today during the Paramount Pictures presentation they announced the names of Mission:Impossible 7 and the spin off A Quiet Plavce movie.

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 will be released in July of 2023, pushed back from 2022 so as not to clash with the other big Tom Cruise sequel Top Gun Maverick.

A Quiet Place: Day One will be released sometime in 2023 and as the title suggests it will take us back to the origins of the hearing sensitive aliens.

The suggestion for Mission:Impossible it would seem is that the eight movie in the series will be Part 2 but thats not been confirmed, maybe the original movie was so long they split it in two!

The movie is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and stars Tom Cruise returning for his 7th outing as Ethan Hawk.

The world which John Krasinski created in the blockbuster A Quiet Place seems to be expanding more in each film, and director Michael Sarnoski will be in charge of showing how that world started.

Rumour has it John Krasinski will be back in 2025 directing a direct sequel to his 2021 movie A Quiet Place Part II.

It's time for another catalogue film to hit the top of the UK box office as England comes out of lockdown and cinemas slowly start to open again, 231 cinemas made up this weeks box office.

Highest new movie of the week is a new telling of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol while outside the top 5 Katherine Jenkins Christmas Spectacular makes a debut at number 10, director Rob Savage's move Host is new at 14 and the re-edit of The Godfather Part III is new at 15.

Elf

After 17 years director Jon Favreau's festival favourite hits the top of the UK box office, albeit under strange circumstances, with a weekend gross of £48,244, a 97% increase from last weekend.

The big increase from last weekend is due to the increased number of cinemas that have re-opened, but the movie has taken a total of £17 Million since its release in 2003.

Home Alone

The Chris Columbus movie falls from the top this week with £36,878, a 93% increase from last weekend!

This pushes the movies total gross to £9.64 Million since its 1990 release.

As described on the BBFC website JOJO RABBIT is a comedy drama in which a ten-year-old Hitler Youth member begins to question the Nazi ideology after discovering a Jewish girl living in his home.

The film is bound to contain plenty of director Waititi satirical sense of humour, although the subject matter might not appeal to a larger audience.

The BBFC have given the film its 12A rating in the UK for discrimination, violence, bloody images, sex references, strong language and the film has a runtime of 108 minutes (1 hours 48 minutes) and it is released on 3rd January 2020 however the film will be shown at the London Film Festival on October 5th 2019.

Two major new releases made their debuts on the UK box office this weekend as Shazam! from the Warner Bros. DC Universe stable did good business and horror film Pet Sematary did OK!

Shazam!

Making its debut at the top of the Uk box office Shazam! makes a good £4 million debut, lower than other super hero movies but for a little known character not bad.

In comparison it is lower than recent origin films Wonder Woman , Aquaman and Captain Marvel but about the same as Marvels Ant-Man who was similarly fairly unknown.

Dumbo

Dumbo falls into second place on its second weekend of release with the Tim Burton movie taking £3.5 million over the weekend pushing its total UK gross to £12 million.

Pet Sematary

A new adaptation of Stephen Kings horror novel enters the box office at number 3 this week with £1.5 million, perhaps a little lower than expected considering the hype.

The original adaptation took half a million pound on its debut in 1989 which adjusted for inflation is about £1.5 million, the same, that film went on to make £1 million (£3 million adjusted) so expect similar from this version.

Captain Marvel

The Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson starring movie takes £1.2 million on its 5th weekend of release pushing its total UK gross to £34.6 million.

With a high turnaround on the charts at the moment the films is not only the highest grossing movie on the UK top 15 but also the longest running film on the charts at 5 weeks.

Peppa Pig: Festival Of Fun

One for the kids at number 5 this week as Peppa Pig returns to the box office for the first time since 2017 where it takes just under a million pound on its debut.
