$0With the Chinese new year over the flood of films is starting to slow down and this weekend Avatar: The Way of Water goes back to the top of the global box office.
The top new movie of the weekend is the re-release of Titanic with the top 'new' movie being Magic Mikes Last Dance at number 5
After falling from the top of the global box office for a couple of weeks James Camerons monster hit movie goes back up the chart this weekend.
The movie did for a while overtake the directors other, former top movie ever, Titanic as the third top grossing movie ever, but it didn't last long!
Falling to number 2 this weekend is the Chinese movie which was released over the big new year celebration and had taken $545.9 Million globally since its release 4 weeks ago.
Highest new movie this weekend
Getting a re-release to celebrate its 25th anniversary, this time in a new 4K 3D print, the former highest grossing movie of all time is the top new movie globally this weekend.
The movie momentarily fell to the fourth top grossing movie globally, getting overtaken by Avatar: The Way of Water, but this release means it retakes the third place on the chart!
The Chinese hit movie falls to number 4 this weekend with a gross of $19 Million boosting its total gross to $623.4 Million, it is the 2nd top grossing movie of 2023.
Making its debut on the global box office at number 5 this weekend is the threequel movie from the Magic Mike series of movie starring Channing Tatum and directed by Steven Soderbergh.
As we go into October the horror movies start to flood the cinemas and the box office and this week we see the critically acclaimed movie Smile~2022 hit the top.
Coming in also on the top 5 is new comedy BROS which has surprised many by making its debut at 5 while Ponniyin Selvan: I is new at 6 with $4 Million, Vikram Vedha~2022 is new at 12 with $986,172 and finally The Good House is new at 15 with $797,309.
Highest new movie this weekend
Making a mark on the horror genre is the new movie from director Parker Finn which after the reviews and he success of this movie, and the low budget, it will spawn a number of sequels.
The movie makes its debut at the top of the US box office with a very good $22 Million opening.
The troubled movie directed by Olivia Wilde and starring Florence Pugh falls to number 2 this weekend with a gross of $6.84 Million, a fairly hefty 65% drop over its debut last weekend.
This gives the movie a total gross of $12 Million after 2 weeks of release.
Three weeks in for the Viola Davis starring movie wich this weeks falls to number 3 with $6.82 Million, a 38% drop over last week.
It only just missed out on the number 2 spot with just over $20,000 separating this and Dont Worry Darling.
The movie has a total gross of $46.5 Million after 3 weeks of release.
The 2 week special release of the 2009 movie in 4K drop to number 4 this weekend with a gross of $5 Million, a 52% drop over last weekend.
The movie in its special release format has taken $18.9 Million on its re-release but the movie has taken $779.8 Million since it was released.
Making its debut at number 5 this weekend, despite all the hype and critical acclaim is the Nicholas Stoller directed movie which makes its debut at number 5 with $4.8 Million.
The movie expands into more theatres next weekend which could give it a big boost.
Last week saw The Lion King at the top of the UK box office, can any of this weeks new releases do enough to top the chart this weekend?
First up at cinemas this week is Once Upon A Time ... In Hollywood, a Comedy directed by Quentin Tarantino who also directed Kill Bill Volume 1 in 2003 which grossed £11.5 Million.
It stars Leonardo DiCaprio who last starred in Before The Flood (2016) and Brad Pitt who last appeared in Deadpool 2 (2018).
Next on the new release schedule is Dora And The Lost City Of Gold, this new Family stars Isabela Moner and Eugenio Derbez.
The film is brought to us by 4 time director James Bobin.
Next up this week is Good Boys which is directed by Gene Stupnitsky and is a directorial debut.
It stars Jacob Tremblay and Keith L. Williams.
Also this week there is Uglydolls from director Kelly Asbury who also directed Gnomeo And Juliet in 2011.
The film features Pitbull and Ice-T in starring roles.

After a suggestion that Mission:Impossible Fallout would be the last of the series its now been confirmed that we will get 2 new films in 2021 and 2022.
Christopher McQuarrie will write and direct the films and of course Tom Cruise will star and produce them as has been the winning combination for the last couple of outings in the series.
The two movies will be film back to back and released on consecutive summers in 2021 and 2022 which could suggest a continuous story across the two films.

In a flood of Solo: A Star Wars Story goodies released today, along with the trailer are these 4 new character posters.
Featuring Solo, Chewie, Lando and new character Qi'ra they have an excellent Star Wars 70's look to them that fit the original trilogy look and feel.
The trailer has us wondering but these posters are getting us excited for the new film, check them out below and let us know what you think.
