Based on a true story from a couple of years back Dumb Money has been given a 15 age rating for strong language, sex references, drug misuse.

The movie stars Paul Dano who recently has been in the hit movie The Batman and has also starred in The Extra Man and The Guilty, it also stars Pete Davidson who has previously appeared in The Guilty and Bodies Bodies Bodies.

The movie is directed by Craig Gillespie who is most famous for directing Cruella but has also directed The Finest Hours and the remake of Fright Night~2011 from 2011.

Movie Synopsis

Everyday people flip the script on Wall Street and get rich by turning GameStop into one of the world's hottest companies. In the middle of everything is Keith Gill, a regular guy who starts it all by sinking his life savings into the stock. When his social media posts start blowing up, so does his life and the lives of everyone following him. As a stock tip becomes a movement, everyone gets wealthy -- until the billionaires fight back and both sides find their worlds turned upside down.

The Marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings remained at the top of the UK box office for a second weekend sweeping away any challenge for the top by quite a large margin with the film at number 2 taking 7 times less than the super hero movie.

Highest new movie of the week is the bio-pic of Aretha Franklin Respect starring Jennifer Hudson which comes in at number 3 and Conjuring director James Wan brings his new movie Malignant in at number 5.

Further down the chart Copshop is new at 7 with £198,225 on its debut and director Phyllida Lloyd's new movie Herself is new at 12 with £85,649.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Marvels latest superhero movie spends a second weekend at the top of the UK box office with a fantastic hold, only dropping 38% the movie takes £3.6 Million over its second weekend.

The movie has now taken an excellent £11.8 Million on the UK box office and is the 8th top movie of 2021 so far.

The movie incredibly took over £6 Million on its first full week of release in the UK.

Free Guy

The Shawn Levy action comedy starring Ryan Reynolds holds steady at number 2 this week and again has a fantastic low drop of only 28% with a weekend gross of £690,408.

This takes the movie total UK gross to £14.3 Million over 5 weeks of release and its the 4th top movie of 2021 at the UK box office.

It could potentially take Fast & Furious 9 which is currently the 3rd top movie of 2021, but then it will most likely be taken by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings by next weekend!

Respect

Highest new entry of the weekend is a bio-pic of Aretha Franklin starring Jennifer Hudson which is naturally getting a lot of Oscar hype for Hudson's performance.

The movie takes £424,514 to land at number 3 on this weeks box office.

Candyman

The horror franchise movie remake falls to number 4 this weekend with £418,414, a 45% drop over last weekend, taking the movies total UK gross to £3.7 Million over 3 weeks of release.

Malignant

Respected horror director of The Conjuring series brings his latest fright fest to the big screen which this weekend makes its debut at number 5 on the UK box office with £409,298.

Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs And Shaw stays at the top of the American box office for a second weekend while the Guillermo del Toro presented Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is the top new entry of the weekend.

Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw

The franchise film starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham stays at the top for a second weekend with a gross of $25.4 Million which pushes the films total gross over the $100 Million mark to $108 Million.

The David Leitch directed movie wont hit the dizzey heights of the latter Fast anf Furious movies but it is still a good summer hit for the franchise.

Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark

We are fast approaching the horror film season and this weekend we got this fright fest from director Andre Ovredal which is the top new film of the weekend at number 2.

The film scores a nice $20.8 Million on its debut weekend of release.

The Lion King

Hitting dizzy heights still is Jon Favreau remake of the 1993 animated feature which this week falls to 3 with $20 Million pushing its total to a massive $473.1 Million.

This makes it the second highest grossing film if the year in America behind the Marvel mega hit Avengers: Endgame.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold

Starring Benicio Del Toro and Madelyn Miranda the subject matter of Dora The Explorer seemes an odd one to bring to the big screen due to its educational content on the Nickelodeon channel.

Still lets not let the source material get in the way of a good money spinner and the James Bobin directed young Lara Croft comes in at number 4 this week with $17 Million.

Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood

Quentin Tarantino biggest film for some time falls to number 5 this week with $11.6 Million pushing the films total gross just over the $100 Million mark in America.

Aladdin

Another Disney live action movie hitting grand heights this week and 12 weeks on the Genie movie starring Will Smith has taken $352.7 Million.

With the fright season upon us now the world wanted to be scared and took in Halloween to keep it at the top for a second week with Bohemian Rhapsody the top new film

Halloween

For the second week running the Jamie Lee Curtis starring film tops the global box office, released in 63 countries the film takes $57.6 million this week.

This boosts the films total global gross to $172.3 million and it is by far the most successful film in the series.

A Star Is Born

Still hanging in there is the Bradly Cooper directed and starring film which this week takes $31.7 million from 76 countries, this boosts the film global gross to $253.3 million.

Venom

The Sony villain film is still at number 3 this week and takes $28.1 million from 66 countries to boost its total cume to $508 million, taking another Marvel film past the half billion mark.

Smallfoot

The animated family comedy is still holding onto a top 5 spot and this week takes $22 million from 79 countries for a $167 million global gross.

The film has the biggest country count on this week global box office.

The Predator

The alien hunter movie moves back to number 5 this week with a global gross of $20.7 million from just 21 countries, the films total gross is now $62.5 million.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Highest new film of the week is the Queen/Freddy Mercury bio-pic which has been released in just 2 countries and takes $12.2 million.

The Bryan Singer directed movie expands this weekend in the US market where Queen had a big following.

It was a summer fright at the US box office this week and sequel The Conjuring 2 The Enfield Case made its way to the top of the American box office on its first week.

The film had a fantastic first day of release which put it in good stead to top the box office, and it finally took over $40 million from the weekend.

Compared to the 2013 original this film is just a shade below but it is certainly in the same ballpark which gives it every opportunity to finally gross about the same $137 million.

The Conjuring 2 comes in ahead of the weeks other new releases in the shape of, Warcraft at number 2 and Now You See Me 2 at number 3.

Highest total grossing movie on the US box office this week is The Jungle Book which has now taken $353 million at the US box office.
