Topping the US box office on its debut weekend Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom takes $27 Million, down a substantial amount from the $72.5 Million Aquaman took in 2018.
There is little surprise to this as Warner Bros. has not thrown its weight behind the movie and it marks the "end" of the Snyder Universe of DC movies with James Gunn about to take over as producer/director going forward.
Wonka drops to number 2 this weekend after a single weekend at the top, the movie does not seem to be doing as well in North America as it is across the rest of the world despite the massive popularity of its main star Timothee Chalamet.
Still a total gross of $75 Million isn't too bad, and this Christmas market will have likely pulled in some audiences for the coming week.
Also new on the top 5 this week is animated take Migration at 3, Romantic comedy Anyone But You at 4 and Indian hit movie Salaar at 5.

The movie opens to £4.2 Million which is twice that of Shazam Fury of the Gods from earlier this year, but it is way short of the series most successful movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice which opened to £14.6 Million.
Falling into second place after a 2 week run at the top is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with a total of £20 Million and falling to 4th is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts with a 60% drop over last weekend.
Based on the music of Take That Greatest Days is new at 5 with £536,955 while there is a re-entry for Fleabag: NT Live 2019 at £86,597 ahead of Phoebe Waller-Bridge starring in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

After a troubled few years in the DCEU and the appointment of a new head honcho in the shape of James Gunn the much delated The Flash is finally going to get a release, and the movie has been given a 12A age rating in the UK for moderate violence, injury detail, threat, infrequent strong language
The movie stars Ezra Miller who has previously starred in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Another Happy Day, it also stars arguably the greatest Batman of them all Michael Keaton who has previously starred in Out of Sight and Clean and Sober.
The movie is directed by Andy Muschietti is is best known for Directing the recent adaptation of IT and its sequel IT Chapter 2 and has also directed the celebrated horror movie Mama from 2013.

After a 4 week run at the top of the UK box office The Super Mario Bros. Movie is knocked off by the latest MCU movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, but its not all good news as the threequel does not take as much as the sequel movie on its debut.
With such a bit movie getting its debut the studios cleared the schedule for a couple of weeks to give it time to breath, there were a couple of other new movies though, Jodi was new at 9 with £88,045 while Return to Seoul came in at 10 with £75,273.
Meanwhile outside the top 10 2018 came in at 13 with £52,211.

Despite the hype, and generally good reviews the new Guardians of the Galaxy made its debut will less than that of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, which is perhaps another sign that superhero fatigue is creeping in, something which director James Gunn has mentioned in the past.
That said the movie did debut at the top of the chart, knocking off The Super Mario Bros. Movie and is the 8th top grossing movie ever in the month of May.

The movie is the top grossing movie of 2023 so far and is looking to top £50 Million by next weekend.
The Evil Dead sequel movie seems to be pleasing movie goers in the UK as the horror movie takes nearly £500,000 on its third weekend of release.
The British produces movie starring Jim Broadbent and Penelope Wilton falls to number 4 on its second weekend of release with a £336,519 gross.
Going back up the box office to number 5 is the former number 1 John Wick sequel which has a total UK gross of £17 Million after 7 weeks of release.
Sequel movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods makes its debut on the US box office chart this week and despite good reviews takes a debut gross far lower than expected, and far lower than the original movie.
