Highest new movie this weekend

The highest new entry this weekend comes in at number 3 as the Halloween season start to conclude we get this horror movie from director Daniel Stamm.

The movie makes its North American debut with a gross of $7.1 Million, not bad for a very low budget film but it could almost sink without trace by next weekend.

The horror movie of the season falls a single place this weekend to number 4 as it fails to capitalise on the Halloween season.

With a weekend gross of $5.4 Million, a 36% drop over last weekend, the film has been far from a flop as its total gross rises $92 Million.

It is chasing the one hundred million milestone which the movie may struggle with now the horror season is over and done with.

Highest new movie this weekend

Starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson the latest superhero to get unleashed onto the big screen makes its debut at the top of the North American box office.

Taking a reasonable $67 Million on its debut this is fairly good for a DC/Warner Bros. movie but this set od superheros can't match that of their Marvel rivals.

The movie has a clear road for the next few weeks until Disney release the Black Panther sequel in early November.

In an unusual movie the new George Clooney and Julia Roberts movie gets a release weeks behind the rest of the world, and it goes up against Black Adam, a very strange situation!

The movie has been a surprise hit globally having taken close to $100 Million, and it makes its debut in North America with $16 Million, no where near the number 1 movie but not bad.

Despite the movie seeming like an Adam sandler and Drew Barrymore reject it seems to be wowing audience and could potentially fulfil the need for people looking for a non special effects laden end of the year.

The horror movie of the season falls to number 3 this weekend with $8.3 Million as it suffers a slight pre halloween slump, this is 34% down on last week.

The movie has taken $84 Million in total over its 4 weeks of release, it could see a climb next weekend over the Halloween period and $100 Million would not be unreachable.

Halloween Ends

The last of the last trilogy of Halloween movies falls to number 4 this weekend after making its debut at the top with a gross of $8 Million, a very large 80% drop.

Bear in mind the it got a simultaneous cinema and streaming release, the movie has taken $54.1 Million to date, this is lower than either of the other 2 movies.

It may get a boost next weekend and then it will slip away quietly until the next reboot of the franchise!

The children's book adaptation falls to number 5 this weekend with $4.2 Million a 43% drop on its 3th weekend of release giving it a total North American gross of $28 Million.

Starring Dwayne Johnson Black Adam, the latest superhero movie from the DC Universe stable of films hits the top of the UK box office on its debut weekend.

The movie has little competition in the coming weeks but come 11th November it we get the Black Panther sequel!

Starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson this lighthearted drama about friendship comes from the director who brought us the critically acclaimed In Bruges

It will most likely see a bump in taking next weekend as the Halloween season is in full swing and audiences are looking for the scare over the weekend.

Halloween Ends

The last in the last trilogy of Halloween movies falls to number 5 this weekend with £703,338, a large 67% drop over last week.

The movie now has a total UK gross of £3.6 Million, and despite the fact it could get a boost from the Halloween season next week it will finish off its box office run the lowest of this trilogy of movies.

Halloween Ends

Highest new movie this weekend

As the Halloween season comes into full swing the horror movies hit the big screen, Smile~2022 has been a big hit at the box office and now we get the end(!) of the Halloween series.

Directed like the previous 2 by David Gordon Green and starring Jamie Lee Curtis the movie takes $41 Million on its debut weekend in North America.

This is the lowest of the series, but like the previous movie it can be seen on streaming as well as in movie theatres.

What seems to be the horror movie to see this season, the Parker Finn directed movie falls from the top after 2 weeks with a $12 Million third weekend, a relatively good 33% drop.

This gives the movie a total gross of $71 Million in North America after 3 weeks of release.

Falling to number 2 this weekend is the movie based on the children's book this takes $7.3 Million this weekend, a 35% drop.

The movie has now taken $22.7 Million after 2 weeks of release.

Proving to be a big hit for star Viola Davis the based on a true story movie takes $3.6 Million on its fifth weekend of release, a small 29% drop.

This gives the movie a total US gross of $59.7 Million after 5 weeks of release.

The massively criticised movie with a stella cast of Hollywood A listers falls to number 5 this weekend with $2.8 Million on its second weekend of release, a 55% drop over last weekend.

The movie has taken $11.9 Million over its 2 weeks of release and looks like it will drop out of the box office chart quite quickly.

Children's movie Lyle Lyle Crocodile is the top new movie of the weekend beating Halloween Ends to the top on their debut weekends of release.

Also new this weekend is The Legend of Maula Jatt at number 9 with £315,219 and Emily at number 10 with £276,322.

  • Highest total gross - Minions: The Rise of Gru (£46 Million)

UK weekend box office top 5 breakdown 14th - 16th October 2022

Highest new movie this weekend

Directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck the movie based on the children's book of the same name lands on the UK box office at the top this weekend.

With the release of Halloween Ends this weekend it was presumed that would get to the top but the crocodile movie takes the top spot with its advance screenings, without them the movie does land at number 2.

The movie takes £2.7 Million over the weekend and £1.7 Million without previews.

The last in the (current) Halloween trilogy lands on the box office at number 2 this weekend, ot if we take out the advance screenings of Lyle Lyle Crocodile it actually lands at the top.

The movie makes a debut gross of £2.1 Million which is well above the previous David Gordon Green directed Halloween~2018 movie, Haloween Kills which landed at number 3 with £1.6 Million, but that movie was delayed a year and released during the pandemic.

The horror movie of the moment falls to number 2 this weekend after a 2 week stint at the top of the UK box office.

On its 3rd weekend the movie takes £1.4 Million, a 17% drop over last weekend which gives the movie a total UK gross of £7.2 Million.

The George Clooney and Julia Roberts starring romantic comedy remains at number 4 this weekend on its 4th weekend of release.

Taking £617,041, a small 28% drop over last week, now on its 4th weekend the movie has taken a very reasonable £7.7 Million.

Despite the controversy surrounding this movie, and that it was a relative flop in the US the movie has done reasonably well in the UK, I guess the British love Florence Pugh and Harry Styles!

The movie takes £610,841 on its 4th weekend of release as it falls to number 5, this is a 40% drop over last weekend and gives the movie a total UK gross of £9.3 Million, the £10 Million milestone is just around the corner.
