Finally Dual starring Karen Gillan makes its debut at number 12 with $125,000 over the weekend.
US box office top 5 weekend breakdown 15th - 18th April 2022
This third in the Wizarding World series of movies makes a soft debut at the top of the US box office chart this weekend with $43 Million.
Compared to the last movie in the series Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald this is $20 Million lower and compared to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is it $30 Million lower.
The Fantastic Beasts series has never hit the heights of Harry Potter, but with the controversy and difficult production of this series many critics are declaring this should be the last one and quit while your ahead.
Falling into second place this weekend is the blue video game hedgehog which takes $30 Million on its second weekend of release, a hefty 58% drop over last weekend.
The movie has taken a nice $119.6 Million after 2 weeks of release which is higher than Sonic the Hedgehog from 2020.
The movie is the 4th top movie of 2022 to date.
Falling a single place to 3 this weekend is the Sandra Bullock starring action comedy which takes $6.5 Million this weekend, 29% down.
This takes the movies total gross to $78.5 Million total after 4 weeks and its the 7th top movie of 2022.
Jumping up the box office to number 4 this weekend after being available in many more cinemas is the Michelle Yeoh starring alternate reality movie which takes $6.1 Million on its 4th weekend, a 2% increase over last week.
This gives the movie a very respectable $17.6 Million total, which could climb higher as it expands to more cinemas and is getting good critical word of mouth.
Finally in the top 5 is another new movie as Mark Wahlberg joins in Daddy's Home 2 co-star Mel Gibson in this comedy which takes $5.7 on its debut weekend.
Giving Sonic the hedgehog 2 only a single weekend at the top of the UK box office, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore makes its UK debut at the top.

This third in the series of movies that serve as a prequel to the Harry Potter movies, starring Eddie Redmayne as the Beasts finder Newt Scamander the series has turned into an origins movie for Albus Dumbledore played in this series by Jude law.
The movie opens with a gross of £5.8 Million which is well below the last movie in the series Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald with an opening of £12 Million and the first movie in the series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which took £15 Million on its opening.
This series of movies has not touched the heights of the Harry Potter series which started 20 years ago with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone which took £15 Million on its debut and ended with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 which took £23 Million.
The movie is the 10th top movie of the year so far, and will end up most likely in the top 5, but it is debatable if Warner Bros. will see this as good enough to continue the movies in what should have been a 5 movie series.

Proving to be a smash hit is the latest movie from the DreamWorks animated stable which this weekend takes £1.1 Million, a 51% drop over last weekend, taking the movies total UK gross to £4.8 Million.
Sony's Spiderverse movie drops to number 4 this weekend with £740,336, a massive 77% drop over last weekend.
This gives the movie a total gross of £5 Million after 2 weekends of release, it will most likely drop out of the top 5 next weekend and end its run with about £7 Million.
Its not been good for the super villain movie especially after the success last year of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Dropping to number 5 this weekend The Caped Crusader takes £623,866 on its 6th weekend of release, a 48% drop over last weekend, giving the movie a total of £39 Million.
The movie is the top movie of 2022 so far, an honor it will loose in the coming weeks, but the film has been a success for Warner Bros. in fact it has been more successful tha Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice from 2016 which took £35 Million over its total 6 week run.
It has not been as successful though as Joker~2019 from 2019 which had taken £54 Million 6 weeks into its run on its way to £58 Million total.
Disney release its latest movie, Jungle Cruise, which makes its debut at the top of the North American box office with little in the way of competition.
Beating all expectations indie movie The Green Knight makes its debut at number 2 while rounding out the top 5 is the new Matt Damon movie Stillwater.

As the world is still trying to cope with the global pandemic this is never going to hit the same heights at the other movies based on a ride
Pirates of the Caribbean but its a good start for the movie and its already the 16th top movie of 2021.
Starring Dev Patel and directed by David Lowery this historical drama about the nephew of King Arthur makes a surprise new entry at number 2 this week.
The movie takes a very respectable, especially in the current box office climate $6.7 Million debut, largely pushed by very good critical reviews.
Falling to number 3 from its debut position at the top of the box office is the M. Night Shyamalan directed movie which takes $6.7 Million on its second weekend, a quite large 60% drop.
This takes the movie total US gross to $30.6 Million after its 2 weeks on the chart.
In truth it had a tough fight with the new number 2 movie The Green Knight and only missed out on the number 2 position by a few thousand dollars.
The Marvel movie falls to number 4 this weekend with $6.4 Million, a decent 45% drop, giving the movie a $167 Million total after 4 weeks.
Finally in the top 5 a new entry for Matt Damon as his new movies makes its debut at 5 with $5.12 Million.

Hanging on at number 5 is the musical adaptation from Jon M. Chu which takes £232,045 on its 4th weekend of release, a 50% drop, giving the movie a total gross of £3.8 Million.
