At the UK box office this weekend, Friday, 26th July 2019, there are 4 new releases looking to take your attention at the local multiplex and knock The Lion King from the top of the UK box office chart next week.
First up at cinemas this week is Horrible Histories: The Movie - Rotten Romans, a Family movie from director Dominic Brigstocke who is directing for the first time.
It stars Emilia Jones who last starred in Two For Joy (2018) and Sebastian Croft who last appeared in The Hippopotamus (2017).
Next on the new release schedule is The Current War, this new Dramatic movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon.
The film is brought to us by 4 time director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon who's last film was Me And Earl And The Dying Girl.
Next up this week is The Intruder which is directed by Deon Taylor and is a directorial debut.
It stars Michael Ealy and Meagan Good who were last seen together in Think Like A Man Too which grossed £131,138.
Also this week there is André Rieu 2019 Maastricht Concert: Shall We Dance? from director Michael Wiseman marking a directorial debut,
The film features André Rieu and Charlotte Hawkins in starring roles.

Marvel's Avengers: Endgame sits at the top of the US box office again as a number of new release come in and try to de-thrown it with Pokemon: Detective Pikachu coming closest.
The Marvel mega hit film spends its third weekend at the top of the US box office with a weekend gross of $63 million.
This takes the films total gross to $723.5 million which means it is now the 3rd highest grossing film having overtaken Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther, both from Marvel.
The only 2 films in its way to being the top US film ever are Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avatar it could do by next weekend but The Force Awakens could be a hard reach.
Highest new film of the week is the live action version of the popular Nintendo franchise which lands at number 2 with $58 million.
With a solid fan base and favourable reviews the Rob Letterman directed film could go on to be the top grossing Pokémon film to hit the big screen.
The con artist film directed by Chris Addison lands at number 3 this week with $13.5 million.
Stars Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson have a dedicated following which has helped the movie but with bad reviews this could sink quickly.
Starring Dennis Quaid and Meagan Good this Deon Taylor directed falls to number 4 on its second weekend and pushes the films total to $20.9 million.
Despite the positive buzz surrounding this film it falls to number 5 this weekend with $6.1 million pushing its gross to $19.7 million on its second weekend.
The Marvel superhero movie starring Brie Larson is on its 10th weekend this week pushes its total gross to $423.7 million in the US.
As expected with such a massive debut weekend Avengers: Endgame remains at the top of the US box office for a second weekend with thriller The Intruder entering the chart at number 2.
Taking a mammoth $145.8 million on its second weekend of release the Marvel film continues to reign above all else in its path, the films US gross is now $619.7 million and the 8th top grossing film ever.
The drop from last week record breaking openieng was significant but similar to other films on its genre and the films posted the second highest second weekend gross after Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
THe film has a fight on its hands to beat the Star Wars movie but its possible, it will definitely become at least the second highest grossing film in the US ever.

The Avengers studio mate falls from 2 to number 5 this week in the aftermath of Endgames record breaking weekend which saw a boost in this films takings.
The films takings this week are $4.3 million boosting its total gross to $420.7 million, the film is the 23rd highest grossing film ever in the US.
The film does take the honor of longest run on the US box office this week with 9 weeks of release, and still in the top 5, not bad!
Avengers: Endgame continue its path of world domination, breaking box office records this weekend while it stops all other movies from getting to number 1.
Long Shot is the top new movie of the weekend entering the chart at 2 while there are 4 other new films on the top 10.

Incredibly the film is already the second highest grossing film of all time having just over taken Titanic.

The film lands at number 2 on its debut weekend of release with a gross of $13.3 million from 23 countries.
This dramatic true story directed by Nadine Labaki enters the global box office at number 3 this week with a gross of $13.1 million from 17 countries.
Another new entry at number 4 this week is this thriller starring Meagan Good and Dennis Quaid which takes $11 million over the weekend from a single country release.
Finally on the top 5 is this animated comedy which takes $9.4 million for 9 counties on its debut weekend.
