Tom Cruise launches his latest vehicle this weekend in the US but it is no match for the mammoth Wonder Woman which spends a second weekend at the top.

Tom Cruise spent the early part of his career avoiding franchise films but since starring and producing the Mission:Impossible series of film he has become more seduced by the idea.

With Another Jack Reacher film released earlier this year and another Top Gun film promised Cruise here starts with The Mummy which promises to kick off a Dark Universe franchise.

The Mummy kicks off its US box office run with a number 2 debut and $32.2 million, really not the sort of business Universal were expecting, add to that bad reviews and Cruise may start worrying.

Wonder Woman holds onto the top spot this week with a $57.1 million second weekend, easily beating The Mummy, this brings the films total gross to $205 million.

Also new this week is It Comes At Night, $6 million and number 6 and Megan Leavey, new at 8 with $3.7 million.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is this weeks longest running film with 6 weeks on the chart and the highest total grossing movie with $366 million.

Marvel continue their run of really strong hit film and introduce a new character to the MCU in the shape of Doctor Strange which this week enters the global box office at the top.

Released in 33 countries the Benedict Cumberbatch film took $86 million on its debut week, a figure which is double that of the film at number 2.

At number 2 is Inferno which this weeks gets its US release and holds firm at number 2, a $44.1 million week from 62 countries brings the total gross to $147.7 million.

Last weeks top film, Jack Reacher Never Go Back, falls to number 4 this week with $21.1 million from 47 countries, this brings the total gross to $93.8 million.

Boo! A Madea Halloween is still at number 5 and is still only released in a single country, America! Top total grossing movie on the global top 10 this week is Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children which has now grossed $243 million.

Tyler Perry keeps a grip on the top of the US box office despite some competition from Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise.

Boo! A Madea Halloween retains the number 1 position in America with a second weekend gross of $16.6 million, this brings the films total gross after 10 days of release to $52 million.

Coming in at number 2 is the third film in the Dan Brown Da Vinci Code trilogy Inferno, the film would have been expected to go to the top but Halloween was too strong a call.

Tom cruise keeps the pressure up but falls to number 3 with Jack Reacher Never Go Back, its second weekend take is $9.5 million.

Top total grossing movie on the US box office this week is Storks with $68.2 million , it is also the longest running film at 6 weeks.

This weekend Jack Reacher gave it a good go but in the end her was not good enough to stop the Trolls from hitting the top on its debut weekend.

The new IP from Dreamworks hits the top with a weekend gross of £5.4 million which is about average for an animation from the studio, Kung Fu Panda 3, the last film from them took £4.7 million on its opening.

If things go as usual Trolls could get somewhere in the £10 million mark especially with a fairly decent debut.

The Girl on The Train falls from the top this week after a couple of weekends at the top, a £2 million weekend takes the film to £17.7 million after 3 weeks of release.

Also new this week is Jack Reacher Never Go Back which lans in the runner up spot with £2.6 million, this is in the ballpark, but lower, of the first film with took £3.5 million on its debut.

Longest running film of the week is The BFG which has been around now for 13 weeks and the highest total grossing movie is Bridget Jones's Baby now on £44.5 million.

Five years ago - Halloween took Paranormal Activity 3 to the top of the box office on its debut while Johnny English Reborn fell to number 2 after 3 weeks.

Ten years ago - The Departed stayed at the top for a second week while highest debuting film was Barnyard at number 3.

Fifteen years ago - American Pie 2 stayed at the top while America's Sweethearts made its debut at number 2.

Twenty years ago - New at the top was the fantasy film Dragonheart while The Nutty Professor fell into the runner up spot after 2 weeks at the top.

Twenty five years ago - Making its debut at the top was City Slickers while Drop Dead Fred fell to number 3.

Tom Cruise releases his latest action film this week in the shape of Jack Reacher Never Go Back and tops the global box office with ease.

Its a very quiet time for big new releases at the moment and Jack Reacher manages to top the global box office with a weekly gross of $54 million from 31 countries.

After a week at the top Inferno falls into second place this week with $28.9 million, this brings the films total gross after 2 weeks of release to $64.8 million from 58 countries.

Also released this week making an impact on the global box office is US number 1 Boo! A Madea Halloween which is at 3 with $27.6 million from just the one country.

Ouija: Origin Of Evil is also new at number 5 and has taken $21 million and is released in 23 countries.

Highest total grossing movie on the global box office this week is Miss Peregrine' Home For Peculiar Children which has now taken $224 million and is still out in 65 countries.
