Threequel movie Angel Has Fallen makes its debut at the top of the UK box office while Scary Movie To Tell In The Dark makes a debut inside the top 5.

Angel Has Fallen

Landing at the top of the box office this weekend is the third in the action series starring Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman.

The film takes a fairly respectable £2.11 Million over its debut weekend, this is lower than the last film London Has Fallen but about the same as the first film Olympus Has Fallen.

Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood

Quentin Tarantino 9th film falls from the top spot into number 2 this weekend although it was a close call with the Hollywood history film taking £2.10 Million.

This pushes the films total UK gross to £12.7 Million after 2 weeks of release.

The Lion King

Disneys remake is still pulling in the audiences over the summer holidays and this week falls to 3 with a gross of £1.09 Million.

This takes the Jon Favreau directed movie to an excellent £69 Million after 6 weeks of release.

Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw

The Fast & Furious film falls to number 4 this weekend with £634,421 on its 4th weekend of release.

This takes the Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham starring movie to a £12.8 Million total UK gross.

Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark

Second new entry inside the top 5, at 5, is the scare fest from director Andre Ovredal which takes £611,218 on its debut weekend.

Toy Story 4

Sitting at number 8 this week is the Pixar animated hit which is now 10 weeks into its box office run and has taken £62.5 Million.

The late summer at the US box office is generally a quiet one and is often a chance for smaller movie to have their day at the box office, this week Angel Has Fallen takes advantage and hits the top along with faith-based movie Overcomer also entering in the top 5.

Angel Has Fallen

The third part in the series of film starring Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman that started with Olympus Has Fallen then had its sequel London Has Fallen enter the box office at the top.

The film takes $21.2 Million on its debut which is almost identical to its immediate predecessor.

Bad Boys

Last weeks top film falls to number 2 this weekend with a gross of $11.7 Million which takes its 2 week total gross to $42 Million.

Overcomer

Also entering the US box office at number 3 this week is this sports based movie which takes $8.2 Million on its debut.

The film is a faith-based movie which have always done well in the US and the film is directed by Christian filmmaker Alex Kendrick.

The Lion King

Disneys live action animated remake falls to 4 this week with a gross of $8.1 Million on its 6th weekend of release.

With the film going over the $1.5 Million mark globally this last week it has take $510.6 Million in the US.

Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw

The Fast & Furious franchise film falls to number 4 this week with $8.1 Million which takes its total to $147.7 after 4 weeks of release.

Spider Man: Far From Home

The MCU Spider-Man film (how many more will we have, if any?) is the longest running film on the US box office this week with 8 weeks and a total gross of $370.7 Million.

It was a claws out at this weekends box office as Kong Skull Island and Logan fought it out for the top spot and the new relese of Kong won the battle.

From the same production team that brought us Godzilla in 2014 Kong Skull Island is set in the same universe and is set to start a "monsters" universe similar to that of the Marvel and DC cinematic universes.

Kong opens similar to Godzilla with just over £6 million, but the film was far better received than Godzilla with the critics with a surprise amount of praise for the monster film.

Godzilla went on to gross £17 million in the UK and there is nothing to suggest this wont do similar if not better.

Logan falls into second place this week with £3.8 million after a single week at the top, this brings the films total gross to £16 million after 10 days of release.

This means that on its second weekend the film is already the best of the solo Wolverine movies and it still has plenty of milage left.

A couple of interesting things to note this week, if the chart were taken on a Monday - Sunday then Logan would have still been the top film.

Also Moulin Rouge which is on a Secret Cinema run at the moment and is number 13 on the weekend chart would have been number 4 with £2 million for the week.

There are no other new released in the top 10 this week but Elle makes a new entry at number 11 with £0.2 million and Dancer is new at 12 also with £0.2 million.

Longest run this week is Lion with 8 weeks on the chart and highest total grossing movie is Sing with £28 million.

This week making its debut at the top of the UK box office is the critically acclaimed Wolverine movie Logan starring Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.

The solo Wolverine movies have not had the best of times at either the box office or with critics, but Logan bucks that trend and gets the 78 highest debut weekend in the UK with £9.44 million.

Compared to both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine this is far higher with those films taking £6 million and £4 million respectively, it will do better than both those films.

The Lego Batman Movie falls to number 2 after 3 weeks at the top with a £1.5 million weekend which brings the films total gross to £24.9 million and is currently the second highest grossing movie of 2017.

When Disney release a new video it is normally a big deal, and with the release of their spring hit Zootopia this week is is no exception and the film debuts at the top of the UK video chart.

The film was a massive hit for the Mouse House when it was released on 25th March 2016, but it did not make the top of the cinema box office, beaten by Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice.

It did bubble around the top for 4 weeks before making a slow decent down the box office spending an impressive 13 week in total in the top 15.

The film took a very nice £23 million pound in the UK which makes it the 138th top grossing movie of all time, it also took £1.02 billion globally making it the 24th highest grossing movie ever.

London Has Fallen falls from the top into second place on its second week on the chart.

Also new this week are: 10 Cloverfield Lane at 3, a number 2 hit from March and Risen at number 10 a not chart hit from March.
