It will most likely be the last weekend at the top for The Super Mario Bros. Movie but the top grossing movie of 2023 so far spends a fourth weekend at the top of the UK box office pushing its total gross to over £45 Million after 4 weeks of release.
With the horror movie Evil Dead Rise staying at number 2 with a gross of just over a million the top new movie of the weekend is The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry starring Jim Broadbent and Penelope Wilton which takes £784,698 on its debut.

Further down the box office Godland makes £42,854 on its debut weekend.
Highest new movie this weekend
Video game adaptations have not historically made good movie adaptation, and the box office grosses have not been good, but Nintendos flagship character Mario looks set to change that as it makes its debut with £15.6 Million.
The movie has not been a big hit with critics but paying audiences have loved the animated movie and if it be the fan service or the love of the characters this is set to be one of the biggest movies of the year.
In comparison Sonic the Hedgehog from 2020 took £4.7 Million on its debut and Super Mario Bros from 1993 took £2.8 Million on release, £3.7 Million adjusted for inflation.
After making its debut at the top last weekend the board game adaptation falls to number 2 on its second weekend with a 54% drop.
The movie has taken £8.2 Million after 2 weeks of release.
The fourth chapter in the John Wick series is at number 3 this weekend with a £1.2 Million gross on its 3rd weekend of release.
Ben Affleck directs himself and Matt Damon in this movie based on the shoe made famous by basketball player Michael Jordan.
The new movie starring Russell Crowe lands at number 5 this weekend on the UK box office with a gross of £707,050.
Star Wars Celebration is in full swing at the movie (it runs from April 7th - 9th) and of the more exciting news it has been announced that three new movies for the Star Wars series are in production.
The movies are directed by James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the last being of some interest as it will bring back the character of Rey from the sequel trilogy series played once again by Daisy Ridley.
The movie will cover the entire (fictional) history of the series with one showing how the Jedi came to be and learn to use the Force, one being set in the time-line of the TV show The Mandalorian which is after the events of Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi and finally Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct a movie set 15 years after the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker showing how Rey rebuilt the Jedi Order.
There has been no mention so far of the Taika Waititi Star Wars Film, which is simply called Untitled Taika Waititi Star Wars Film on IMDB.com, so who knows if that is still going ahead.
This plan does seem to be a more positive one for a film series that has totally lost its way since Disney took it over, and Rogue One A Star Wars Story aside has not produced movie which compliment the rich history of the much loved movies.
The TV shows on the other hand have been popular with the previously mentioned The Mandalorian being the best so far.
Time will tell if these movies get made, but the movie path and directors of recent years for the Kathleen Kennedy helmed Lucasfilms has been sketchy to say the least!
