This week there is a trio of new releases which will battle it out for box office supremacy but they may have a battle on their hands with this weeks top film The Fault in Our Stars.

Biggest film of the week is Mrs Browns Boys D'Movie. The big screen debut of the BBC smash hit comedy series sees Agnes Brown and her family doing things on a bigger scale. A cult in Great Britain this could do big business and hit the top spot for a single week.

Chef is from director Jon Favreau and unlike his previous films Iron Man and Cowboys and Aliens this is a low budget low scale movie about life in a foot truck. This should see a top 5 entry on the box office.

Following on from the success of Mama Mia! and Sunshine on Leith, Walking on Sunshine is a feel good movie with lots of song performances throughout, directed by Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini this could see a top 5 entry.

With the school half term being a wet and miserable time in most parts of the UK the cinema was clearly a good option for parents as 3 animated features dominate the charts.

At the top there is no change as The Lego Movie stays for a second week taking £6 million, climbing back up a place is Mr Peabody and Sherman, while climbing to third is Disney's Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy.

You have to look outside the top ten to find the highest new film, A New York Winter's Tale enters at thirteen this week, taking £258 thousand for the weekend.

A year ago Disney was at the top with Wreck-It Ralph was still at the top of the box office while horror film Mama took the highest new position at three.

Five years ago Disney was at the top with Bolt retaining the position while new film Shopaholic entered at two. Ten years ago The Haunted Mansion stayed at the top, from, you guessed it, Disney. Entering the highest right down at nine was Sex Lives of the Potato Man.

Fifteen years ago Disney were at the top (again) this time with the help of Pixar with A Bugs Life, while highest new film was at three, This Years Love.

In conclusion, Disney does well this time of year!

In a very slow and quiet week at the UK box office X-Factor rejects One Direction top the box office in a behind the stage documentary.

Directed by Supersize Me's Morgan Spurlock (and American which shows where the band are most popular) One Direction: This is Us follows the band on their recent tour. The documentary takes the top spot with £3.4 million. Last weeks top film, Elysium, falls to number 2 after a week at the top.

This time last year the remake of Total Recall was at the top of the UK chart knocking Brave from the top spot to number 3, Neighborhood Watch took the number 2 spot.

Five years ago Step Brothers starring Will Farrell and John C. Reilly took the top from Hellboy II which fell to number 4, Mama Mia held onto the number 2 spot and The Strangers entered at 3.

Ten years ago Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl remained the top film with Jeepers Creepers 2 entering at 3.

Fifteen years ago The X-Files was the top film still with the highest new film Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels entering at 3.

A single week at the top was all Bruce Willis could manage as Wreck-It Ralph jumps back to the top with a strong weekend after the school half term.

3 weeks of release and Disney recapture the top spot with their video game inspired film. A weekend gross of £3,420,196 takes it's total to £18,624,692 making another big hit for the House of Mouse.

A Good Day to Die Hard only slipped to second place which made the highest new film of the week land at 3, horror spookfest Mama took £1.5 million for the weekend.

This time last year another spooky horror film was still at number 1, The Woman in Black was spending it's 3rd week at the top with £2.4 million. Highest new films was Denzel Washington in Safe House with £2.1 million.

Five years ago Jumper was holding the top spot while whacky comedy starring Jack Black and Mos Def Be Kind Rewind was the highest new film at 2.

Ten years ago it was yet another scary horror film, the US remake of The Ring, which debuted in the top spot with £2.2 million.

And fifteen years ago Titanic was continuing it's record breaking surge at the top of the box office, 5 weeks in, still the top film and £34.1 million in the bank.

Opening across the UK this weekend are The Wachowski's Cloud Atlas, Horror film Mama which is presented by respected director Guillermo del Toro and famed director Terrence Malick's latest To The Wonder.

Cloud Atlas is Andy and Lana Wachowski's return to film making after 5 years out of the game. Their most famous film to date is The Matrix from 1999. Their new film stars a host of Hollywood A-Listers including Tom Hanks and Halle Berry and is based on the surreal novel from David Mitchell, the story following characters spanning across decades of time.

Mama is a scare fest horror movie from director Andres Muschietti and is the story of 2 young girls who are found apparently living alone in the woods and brought back to live with a young couple, only to find their dead mother wants them back.

Finally Terrence Mallick releases his latest film To The Wonder that follows a young couple in love on their journey through life after a visit to Mont Saint-Michel.
