$0 In a surprise move the Zach Cregger directed movie Weapons~2026 tops the UK box office ahead of the Disney movie Freakier Friday which lands at number 2.
Weapons~2026 opens its box office run with a very decent debut gross of £2.1 Million.
Disneys latest movie Freakier Friday makes its debut at 2 with a gross of £1.7 Million which compared to the original movie from 2003.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps drop off the top spot after 2 weeks and has a total gross of £19 Million, maybe not quite the hit Disney was looking for!
Highest new movie this weekend
Marvels The Fantastic Four: First Steps held off a potential threat from new comer The Naked Gun~2025 to stay at the top of the UK and Northern Ireland box office for a second weekend.
Despite a 62% drop from last weekend the superhero movie took an exceptable second weekend gross of just over £3 Million giving the movie a total gross of £15.3 Million.
The movie has now taken more that Thor and should overtake Eternals and maybe this years Thunderbolts by next weekend.
The reinvented The Naked Gun~2025 starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson makes its debut at number 2 this weekend with a nice £1.8 Million.
This is very much in the ballpark of the original The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad which took £457,000 on its debut and adjusted for inflation would be nearly £2 Million.

Director Danny Boyle returns to the horror series that made it a household name (well maybe Trainspotting did!) with 28 Years Later and the much anticipated movie tops the UK box office on its debut.
The Oscar winning director ducked out of the series second movie 28 Weeks Late and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo took on directing duties, but he brought the series to life in 2002 with 28 Days Later.
The movie takes a fantastic £4.7 Million on its debut which is better than the previous two movies combined.
Last weeks top movie, How to Train Your Dragon~2025, drop to number 2 this week after only a single weekend at the top, although with the school summer holidays just round the corner a longer stay, and maybe return to the top, is likely.
Elio from Disney and Pixar falls short this weekend and can only manage a top 3 entry at 3 with just under a million debut - although with the school holidays around the corner - and good reviews - it could hang around.
Highest new movie this weekend
Disney's new MCU movie Captain America: Brave New World makes its debut at the top of the North American box office with $88 Million.
A good result for Disney topping the box office, but for the MCU this is the lowest of the MCU movies debut gross.
Last years Deadpool and Wolverine gave a bit of a shot in the arm for the long running series and Thunderbolts due for release later this year is expected to do well, but for the old gurd maybe their time is up?
Last weeks top movie Dog Man falls to number 4 this weekend but has taken an excellent $66.8 Million since release.

It will most likely be the last weekend at the top for The Super Mario Bros. Movie but the top grossing movie of 2023 so far spends a fourth weekend at the top of the UK box office pushing its total gross to over £45 Million after 4 weeks of release.
With the horror movie Evil Dead Rise staying at number 2 with a gross of just over a million the top new movie of the weekend is The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry starring Jim Broadbent and Penelope Wilton which takes £784,698 on its debut.
Also new this weekend is Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two taking £618,244 on its debut and there is a new entry for the 40th Anniversary rerelease of the much loved classic Star Wars: Return of the Jedi at number 7 with £446,291
Maybe a little disappointing is the debut place for Polite Society which enters the box office at 9 with £220,278.
Finally inside outside the top 10 is Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World which debut's with £204,220.
