This weekend, Friday 23rd August 2019, there are 3 new films released in the UK looking to hit the box office, but can it challenge Once Upon A Time ... In Hollywood for the top spot?

Angel Has Fallen

First up at cinemas this week is Angel Has Fallen, an Action movie directed by Ric Roman Waugh who also directed Shot Caller in 2017 which grossed £1.1 Thousand.

It stars Gerard Butler who last starred in The Vanishing (2019) and Morgan Freeman who last appeared in The Poison Rose (2019).

Crawl

Next on the new release schedule is Crawl, this new Dramatic movie stars Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper who starred in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) together.

The film is brought to us by Alexandre Aja.

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

Next up this week is Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark which is directed by Andre Ovredal who directed Tunnel in 2016.

It stars Zoe Margaret Colletti and Michael Garza.

With the film now is 78 countries, and in particular America, Bonds latest film Spectre increases its lead on the global box office, more than doubling last weeks gross.

A second weekend world gross of $190 million brings its total world gross to just why of $300 million, it has now been in cinemas for 14 days.

It still has a way to go to beat Skyfall's $1.1 billion gross but it is on tract to do so but may struggle, it is well on track to beat Quantum of Solace $570 million.

Box office wise Daniel Craig has been far and away the most successful Bond and his 4 outings will have out grossed all other Bonds, even taking inflation into consideration, by the end of Spectres run.

Also doing well this week is Snoopy and Charlie Brown The Peanuts Movie which is the highest new film of the week at 2, from 12 countries it grosses just shy of $50 million.

Highest total grossing film across the world this week is The Martian which after 6 weeks has now grossed $458 million.

Across the globe this week Ridley Scott's sci-fi epic The Martian is still conquering the world box office, not in its fourth week of release.

The film is loosing momentum slowly but still manages a weekly global gross of $58 million bringing its total global gross to $319 million, it is now playing in 75 countries.

Having had its release across most of the world China now gets Ant-Man and gives the film a massive boost.

Now only playing in 3 countries the film takes $43.5 million last week and sits at number 2, it has now grossed $454.6 million globally.

Ant-Man is also the highest total grossing movie across the globe this week.

At the global box office last week The Martian retained its lead over the box office in convincing style outgrossing the number 2 film by more than double.

A $95 million global take brings from 75 countries takes its global gross to $227.7 million after 2 weeks of release and is set to be one of Ridley Scott's top films.

The Martian is by far the widest release at the moment.

Highest new film to the top 10 is Pan which makes its debut at number 3 with �36 million, including previews the previous week this brings the film total global gross to $40.6 million.<> Top overall grossing film on the global box office this week is Inside Out from Pixar which is still showing in 22 countries and has taken a total of $818 million.

This week there was no stopping Matt Damon and Ridley Scott who take The Martian to the world box office summit on its debut week of release.

Taking $100 million from 50 territories it far out performs any of the rest of the top top.

Falling from the top to number 3 this week is Lost In Hong King, still only released in 6 countries the film manages a nice $41 million giving it a total world gross of $204 million after 2 weeks.

Highest total grossing film on the chart this week is Inside Out which just about hangs in there at number 10 and has a global total gross of $792 million.
