The romantic comedy which stars Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh opened to the tune of $25.2 million and is one of the biggest commedy openers of the year.
Appeal could be limited but with good reviews there is the possibility of it hanging around the charts for a number of weeks for a good total gross.
Falling to number 2 this week after a week at the top is The Meg which takes $21.1 million for the weekend.This brings the films total gross after 2 weeks to $83.7 million.
Mile 22 starring Mark Wahlberg is new at number 3 with an opening weekend gross of $13.6 million.
Rounding out the top 5 is new film Alpha and Mission:Impossible Fallout which early box office estimates show have the same weekend gross of $10 million.
Highest total gross on the US box office this week is Mission:Impossible Fallout which has taken $180 million over its 4 week run.
