World box office top 5 weekend breakdown 25th - 27th March 2022

The Batman

Four weeks at the top for the DC movie with a weekend gross fo $45.5 Million, 47% down on last weekend, it is still released in 77 countries.

The film has now made $672.8 Million at the global box office, not bad but its still not near Superman Vs Batman: Dawn of Justice from 2016.

It is now the top movie of 2022 having now grossed more than The Battle At Lake Changjin II.

The Lost City

Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum star in this action adventure that has the vibe of Romancing the Stone from 1984, which this week is the top new movie landing at number 2 on the global box office.

The movie, directed by Aaron Nee and Adam Nee, takes $34.7 Million on its debut from 17 countries.

RRR

Making its debut at number 3 this weekend is the latest movie from director S.S. Rajamouli, a period movie set in the 1920's.

The movie takes an impressive $13 Million from 21 countries on its debut week of release.

Uncharted

Dropping to number 4 this weekend is the video game adaptation from director Ruben Fleischer which takes $12 Million from 56 countries, a 53% drop.

This gives the movie a total gross of $357.4 Million after 7 weeks of release and its the 5th top movie of 2022.

Moonfall

Jumping back up the global box office this weekend is the Roland Emmerich directed action movie which takes $10.3 Million on its 8th weekend of release from 15 countries, an 80% increase!

The boost is due to its much delayed Chinese release which generated nearly $10 Million in box office revenue over the weekend.

The movie has now taken $60.7 Million at the global box office.

The animated sequel movie Sing 2 remained at the top of the UK cinema box office charts for a second weekend while the stunt spectacular Jackass Forever was the top new movie at number 2.

Moonfall came in at number 3 this weekend while Japanese animated hit Belle: The Dragon and the Freckled Princess was a new entry at number 9 with £152,287 on limited release in 147 screens.

Outside the top 10 The Souvenir: Part II from director Joanna Hogg was new at 11 with £93,044 from just 94 screen.

UK box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - Sing 2 (2nd weekend)
  • Highest debut - Jackass Forever (@2)
  • Longest run - Encanto (11 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - Spider-Man: No Way Home (£91.7 Million)

UK box office top 5 weekend breakdown 4th - 6th February 2022

Sing 2

The animated sequel movie from director Garth Jennings spends a second weekend at the top of the UK box office with a fantastic £5.1 Million weekend gross, a very slim 25% decline for the movie on its second weekend of release.

This gives it a total UK gross of £12.9 Million making it the top movie released in 2022 and the second top movie of 2022 behind Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Jackass Forever

Its been 12 years since Jackass 3D was in our local multiplexes and the crew from the TV show Jackass are back for one last outing of crazy stunts and hidden camera hi-jinx.

The movie lands at number 2 in the UK with a weekend gross of £2 Million which is probably higher than expected, and it becomes the 10th top movie of 2022 in the process.

Belfast

The Kenneth Branagh directed movie falls one place to number 3 this weekend with &poind;1.47 Million, a slender 22% drop over last weekend.

This gives it a total UK gross of £8.9 Million in the UK making it the 3rd top movie of 2022.

After picking up 7 Oscar nominations this week it could mean a good future projection for the movie, and although it might not expect to get many, if any, this will see it hand around until at least the ceremony takes place on March 27th.

Moonfall

Much hyped but seemingly ignored by audiences after a bit of a critical panning, the latest movie from director Roland Emmerich lands on the box office with £1.16 Million this weekend.

Spider Man: No Way Home

Falling to number 5 this weekend after 8 weeks on the box office, the Marvel/Sony movie takes £1.15 Million, a low 35% drop from last weekend, which is incredible considering the movie has been around a couple of months.

Having now taken £91.7 Million in the UK it is the top film of 2022 with £22 Million and it will likely take over Avatar by next weekend as the 5th top movie ever in the UK.

All change at the top as the stunts go too far movie series Jackass makes its return to cinemas in the shape of Jackass Forever and makes its debut at the top of the US box office.

Also making its debut, and a long way behind, is the event movie Moonfall which comes in at 2 while outside the top 10 The Wolf and the Lion is new at number 11 with $641,845.

US box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - Jackass Forever (1st weekend)
  • Highest debut - Jackass Forever (@1)
  • Longest run - Ghostbusters: Afterlife (12 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - Spider-Man: No Way Home ($748.8 Million)

US box office top 5 weekend breakdown 4th - 6th February 2022

Jackass Forever

12 years after the last cinematic outing for the Jackass crew director Jeff Tremaine and long time star Johnny Knoxville return in another round of stupid pranks and 'hilarious' extreme stunts to try and shock audiences.

The movie opens at the top of the US box office with $23.1 Million, half that of 2010's Jackass 3D but we are still in the middle of a pandemic.

The movie put an end run of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the movie has instantly become the 10th top movie of 2022.

Moonfall

Landing at number 2 this weekend is the mega budget event movie directed by Roland Emmerich who is no stranger to this kind of movie.

With a debut of $9.8 Million the studio will be a little disappointed, and with unfavourable reviews from critics and audiences this movie could have a short box office shelf life.

Spider Man: No Way Home

There is still no slowing down for the web slinger as the movie notches up an 8th weekend on the top 3 with $9.5 Million, a very low 14% drop over last weekend.

The movie actually was only just beaten by Moonfall into the runner up spot which shows the strength the movie still has and is getting repeated viewings from fans.

The movie is the top film of 2022 with $21.9 Million taken this year, and it is still the 4th top movie ever in the US with $735.8 Million as it closes in on Avatar.

Scream

Most likely having its last weekend on the top 5, the fifth film in the Scream series falls to number 4 with $4.7 Million, a 34% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total gross of $68.9 Million over 4 weeks making it the 4th top movie of 2022.

A sequel to this movie, the 6th in the series, has just been green lit so the end has not happend yet for the team who seem to always put themselves in harms way!

Sing 2

Falling to number 5 this week is the animated sequel which takes $4.2 Million over the weekend, a very low 10% drop from last week, giving the movie a fantastic $139.6 Million over its 7 week release, and its the 2nd top movie of 2022.

Director Roland Emmerich made his name with distare movies like Independence Day and high concept action movies like Stargate, and he returns to that style of genre with his latest movie Moonfall which gets its first teaser today.

Judging from the teaser it takes the director back to his roots and there is definitely a feel of the 1996 hit movie Independence Day and oddly there is a distinct tone of Armageddon from director Michael Bay, again another 90's disaster movie.

The trailer plays heavily on the idea that the human race visited the moon on the 1960's, and now the moon is coming to visit us, and some sort of alien is involved as we get a quick shot of something with tentacles in the trailer.

The movie stars Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson and we will most like be drop fed more info as the next six month go by, the release date is February 2022.
