In the US this week DC comics and Warner Bros. took their anti-hero movie Suicide Squad to the top of the box office in record style on its debut.

For a movie released in August Suicide Squad has now become the first film to take over $100 on its debut, its total gross for the weekend (including Thursday previews) is $135 million.

Last weeks top film, Jason Bourne, takes a tumble to number 2 this week with $22.7 million, its total over the 10 days since release is $103 million.

Putting themselves up against Suicide Squad this week was Nine Lives which enters at number 6 with $6.5 million.

Highest grossing movie and longest run on the US box office this week is The Secret Life of Pets which has now made $319 million over 5 weeks.
