$20.7 Million It has not been a bad year for the box office and cinemas in the UK in 2024, but it also hasn't been a great year and box office grosses on the whole have been down compared to 2023 and are actually at their lowest sine the pandemic of 2020.
Despite there being some well hyped movies like Deadpool & Wolverine and Wicked~2024 there has not been an event for cinemas goers like the Barbie and Oppenheimer of 2023 or the Top Gun Maverick of 2022.
Inside Out 2 was the top movie of 2024 with over £58 Million from last summer with Deadpool & Wolverine not too far behind with nearly £58 Million.
Late entry Wicked~2024 which is still on release made it to 3 with £53 Million and Despicable Me 4 took £48 Million at 4 with Dune Part 2 rounding out the top 5 at number 5.

The new Bad Boys movie Bad Boys: Ride Or Die makes its debut at the top of the North American box office this weekend with a debut gross of over $56 Million.
The movie makes its debut lower than the 2020 movie Bad Boys For Life which made its debut with $62 Million just as the COVID 19 pandemic was starting to grip the world.
Last weeks top movie The Garfield Movie falls to number 2 this weekend with a total gross of $68 Million to date.

Director Denis Villeneuve brings his second part of the Dune~2020 story to the big screen, and unlike the forst part this movie doesn't have to deal with a pandemic and opens to just over £9 Million.
The original movie which was delayed until 2021 took £5.8 Million on its debut, at the time this was good for a movie after all the COVID19 cinema closures.
Last weeks top movie, Bob Marley: One Love, falls to second place this week after 2 weekends at the top, the movie has taken an excellent £4,2 Million in total box office grosses.
Madame Web hangs on for another weekend on the top 5 bit with a total gross of only £3.9 Million it will be one of the lowest grossing superhero movie in the modern era.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes remains at the top of the US box office for a second weekend.
The movie drop just 35% and has now taken a total of nearly $100 Million.
Top new movie is the weekend lands at 2 this week as the Ridley Scott directed Napoleon~2023 makes its debut.
The movie lands with a weekend gross of $20.6 Million which is higher than the directors last movie, House of Gucci which came in with nearly $15 Million, it was during the COVID19 pandemic though!
Disneys latest movie Wish fails to set cinemas alight and comes in at number 3 with nearly $20 Million.

As Avatar: The Way of Water stays at the top of the UK and Northern Ireland box office for a seventh weekend the Indian movie Pathaan makes an impressive start to its box office run with a debut at 2.
Meanwhile Plane is new at number 3 and The Fabelmans is new at 4 with The Wandering Earth 2 new at 9 with £385,959 and Billie Eilish Live At the O2 is new at 10 with £329,407.
Also new is Unwelcome at 14 with £118,322 and All the Beauty and the Bloodshed at 15 with £88,108.
The James Cameron directed sequel movie remains at the top of the UK box office for a 7th weekend, which makes it equal with Toy Story 2 and Gladiator.
One more week at the top and it equals Tenet as the longest pandemic movie, if it can get to 13 weeks then it will equal Camerons own Titanic, but its unlikely!
This weekend the movie ass £2.1 Million to its total for a total of £70.8 Million.

Making its debut at number 2 this weekend is the new movie from Indian director Siddharth Anand which takes £1.9 Million on its opening weekend.
Also making its debut this weekend is the new movie starring Gerard Butler which enters the box office at number 3 with £1.1 Million.
The stars last movie Copshop opened in September 2021 to £198,225 for a 3 week run.
The latest movie from director Steven Spielberg finally gets a UK release and opens to just over a million pound.
The movie is nominated for a number of Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director which could help its box office journey, but it may get the Director Oscar but little else.
Falling to number 5 this weekend the new horror movie franchise takes £749,354 on its 3rd weekend of release.
Compared to Smile from the end of 2022 that movie took £1.4 Million on its 3rd weekend.
