Avengers: Endgame was always going to open big, and on its 4 day opening weekend, including Thursday previews, the film gains the top opening weekend in the UK beating Spectre who gained it in 2015.
The latest Marvel movie, and end of this phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, took a gigantic £43.4 million on its debut weeekend.
Spectre in 2015 took the title with a 7 day opening, Monday - Sunday, so this is actually more impressive.
The film opened higher than expectation and we will be watching over the coming weeks to see if the film continues to gross well and beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens £123 million total gross, the highest in the UK.
Tim Burtons live action remake continues to do well at the UK box office and remains at number 2 this week with £1.02 Million.
This pushes the films total UK gross to £23.3 million after 5 weeks of release, comparatively the film is doing better in the UK than many other countries.
The animated film climbs from 7 back to number 3 on its 3rd weekend of release with a £454,366 weekend, pushing its total to £3.8 million.
The Judi Dench starring film also climbs this week to number 4 with a weekend of £420,629 which now puts its total gross at £1.5 million.
The DC Captain Marvel falls from the top to number 5 this week with the Marvel film giving people their super hero fix.
The film takes £398,317 on its 4th weekend and it sits at £12.8 million in total grosses.
There was a thought that the other Marvel super hero film on release at the moment would get a boost from Avengers: Endgame but in reality the film falls to 6 on its 8th week of release, its total gross is £38.8 million.
Praised by critics this coming of age drama from director Bo Burnham lands on the box office at number 10 with £144,923, it did go up agains Avengers: Endgame!
With the Easter weekend and the good weather in the UK the box office hit a slump with no film going over £1 million and Shazam! going back to the top, Kalank is the top new film at 4.
After being knock of by Dumbo last weekend the DC superhero movie bounces back this week to go back to number 1 with a weekend gross of £979,787.
This gives the film a 3 week gross of £11.7 million and the it passes the £10 million milestone.
Falling from the top this week where it went back to last weekend the Tim Burton film takes £927,804 on its 4th weekend of release.
This pushes the film past the £20 million milestone with £21.3 million.
With Avengers: Endgame released this coming weekend it looks like it may give this a bit of a boost, the film climbs to number 3 this weekend with £643,152 pushing its UK total to £37.8 million after 7 weeks.
This Indian film directed by Abhishek Varman enters the UK box office at number 4 with a weekend gross of £594,242.
Also making its debut on the chart this week at number 5 is this Judi Dench starring film which takes £432,866 on its debut.
