After a long delay hitting North American cinemas Steven Spielberg's remake of the classic West Side Story its the top of the box office on its debut weekend.
With such a strong new release there was little other new movies hitting the top 10 this weekend, National Champions from director Ric Roman Waugh made its debut at 13 with a weekend gross of $300,000.

Maverick director Steven Spielberg brings his remake of the 1957 stage classic to the big screen, his first movie since Ready Player One in 2018.
The movie was originally turned into a big screen extravaganza in 1961 when director Robert Wise brought to the screen what is probably the most famous version of the classic Romeo & Juliette inspired story.
Spielberg's version makes its debut with a weekend gross of $10.5 Million.
The Disney animated movie falls to number 2 this weekend after a 2 weekend spell at the top with a gross of $9.4 Million, a very small 25% drop over last weekend.
This gives the movie a total gross after 3 weeks of $71.3 Million.
The Ghostbusters sequel sits on the top 5 for a 4th weekend, this week slipping to number 3 with a gross of $7.1 Million, a slim 31% drop over last weekend.
The movie has taken a fairly respectable $112 Million over its 4 weeks on release and is the 10th top grossing movie of 2021.
Director Ridley Scott's true life family drama falls to number 4 this weekend with $4.06 Million, a 40% drop over last weekened, giving the movie a total US gross of $41 Million after 3 weeks of release.
Hanging on to a top 5 placing for another weekend, the Chle Zhao directed movie from the Marvel Universe takes $3.1 Million on its 6th weekend of release, a 21% drop, for a total US gross of $161.2 Million, it is the 5th top movie of 2021.

First up at cinemas this week is Angel Has Fallen, an Action movie directed by Ric Roman Waugh who also directed Shot Caller in 2017 which grossed £1.1 Thousand.
It stars Gerard Butler who last starred in The Vanishing (2019) and Morgan Freeman who last appeared in The Poison Rose (2019).
Next on the new release schedule is Crawl, this new Dramatic movie stars Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper who starred in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) together.

Next up this week is Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark which is directed by Andre Ovredal who directed Tunnel in 2016.
It stars Zoe Margaret Colletti and Michael Garza.

The last film director Taika Waititi gave us wat Thor: Ragnarok but in January 2020 he brings us Jojo Rabbit and today we get the first trailer.
Billed as a satire about anti-hate the film is about a young boy who go off to Hitlers Army camp, then finds his mother is hiding a Jewish girl!
The film stars Roman Griffin Davis, Sam Rockwell and Scarlett as well as Taika Waititi in what promises to be a fascinating movie.
