After last weekends top movie, The Three Kings got to number 1 in an odd roundabout sort of way can it be replaced this weekend?

  • The Kid Detective, Friday, 20th November
  • Another Round, Friday, 20th November

As the film was already one of the most pre-book films in UK cinema history before it was released on Friday it should come as no surprise that Fifty Shades of Grey debuts at the top of the UK box office.

Taking a debut weekend gross of £13.5 million Fifty Shades has the 26 highest grossing opening weekend in the UK nesting in between The Simpsons Movie and Pirates of The Caribbean: At Worlds End.

The lasting appeal of Fifty Shades will be interesting to see as the film has been so front loaded with sales, and the mixed reviews, many being really bad, could hurt the future gross of the film.

Last weeks top film, Big Hero 6, falls just the one place this week, taking £1.8 million on it's third week of release, Big Hero 6 currently has a total gross of £9.9 million.

Nothing dares challenge Fifty Shades this week but there were a couple of other new releases on the box office: Peppa Pig The Golden Boots is at 6 and right down at 14 is Love Is Strange.
