Top new movie of the weekend is the South Korean pop group with their latest concert movie BTS Permission to Dance On Stage - Seoul: Live Viewing which is new at number 3.

Also new on the top 10 this weekend is Indian movie Radhe Shyam which makes its debut at number 7 with $1.8 Million.

  • Highest total gross - Spider-Man: No Way Home ($792.2 Million)

US box office top 5 weekend breakdown 11th - 13th March 2022

The Batman

A good second weekend for the DC Universe movie which remains at the top of the US box office with a 20% drop over last weekend to $66.5 Million taking its total gross to $239 Million.

This kind of drop is fairly common for a movie with such a front loaded fan base who rush out on the first weekend, although the movie still takes 65% of this weekends total box office top 15.

The film does take the honor this weekend over overtaking Spider-Man: No Way Home as the top grossing movie of 2022.

Uncharted

Another weekend at number 2 this week for the Tom Holland starring movie which takes $9.2 Million on its 4th weekend of release, an incredibly low 17% drop over last week.

The movie has now taken $113.3 Million in the US and is the 3rd top movie of 2022, and could overtake the other Tom Holland movie Spider-Man: No Way Home before it finished its run.

BTS Permission to Dance On Stage Seoul: Live Viewing

Highest new movie this weekend is the single day performance from the hottest band around, BTS take their broadcast of their latest concert into the top 5 at number 3.

The event movie takes $6.8 Million which is an incredible feat considering it was only available for a single day broadcast, and incredibly it is the 18th top movie if 2022.

The movie far out did the bands previous event Love Yourself In Seoul: BTS World Tour 2019 which took just $3.5 Million in 2018.

Dog

The Channing Tatum sleeper hit falls to number 3 this weekend with $5.2 Million in its 4th week of release, a very low 15% drop.

The movie has now taken $47.6 Million on the US box office and is the 7th top movie of 2022.

Spider Man: No Way Home

The Marvel/Sony MCU movie has now been on the box office chart for 13 weeks and this weekend takes $4 Million, a very low 10% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now taken an incredible $792.2 Million in the US over its 13 weeks and has been on the top 5 for all of that.

The film is now the 2nd top movie of 2022 having been overtaken by The Batman this weekend, but it is the 3rd top movie of all time, and is less than $100 Million away from Avengers: Endgame which is at number 2.

Maverick director Paul Thomas Anderson chose a couple of upcoming stars for his latest movie which is a coming of age love story set in 1973 which has been given a 15 age rating.

The movie stars Alana Haim as the 25 year old love interest of Cooper Hoffman with help from Sean Penn and Tom Waits.

The movie is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson who is best known for his fantastic observation of the porn industry in Boogie Nights.

UK audiences were spellbound by the Fantastic Beasts sequel this week, but is the love for the Wizarding World starting to wane a bit?

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

This weeks top movie in the UK took an excellent £12.3 million at the UK box office on its debut and although this makes it the 54th top opening film in the UK its £3 million lower than Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

Its only natural that after nearly 20 years of magical films audiences have seen it all before and don't rush to the cinema to see new films from the Wizarding World.

As we have seen this year with Star Wars movies and in the past with film series like The Hobbit even die hard fans can get too much of a good thing and will wait to see a movie.

The Grinch

Making its debut at the top last week the animated retelling of the Dr. Seuss story falls to 2 this week with a £3.9 million weekend pushing its total to £10 million.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Still wowing audiences in the UK is the Queen bio-pic which after 4 weeks of release still manages a £3 million weekend which brings the films total UK gross to £34.8 million.

The film is now the 8th top film of 2018 and the 90th top grossing film ever in the UK.

Widows

A Star Is Born

The was a battle at the top of the Uk box office this week between The Hitmans Bodyguard and Dunkirk and with a gap of less than £50,000 Bodyguard won.

The comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson took £1.9 million on its debut weekend to reach the top, this is the lowest opening for a film to reach number 1 since Billy Elliot The Musical Live took the top spot in September 2014.

This means that the total gross for the top 15 films is also at a low with just £10 million taken.

Falling from the top is Dunkirk, although it held on tight and in the end lost to by a narrow margin taking to second place with £1.8 million.

Dunkirk is still showing strong figures from the week and took £4 million Monday - Sunday to brings its total to nearly £50 million, it is easily the second top grossing film of 2017.

Interestingly the Monday - Sunday figures puts The Hitmans Bodyguard at number 4 with Annabelle Creation and The Emoji Movie coming second and third.

Highest grossing film on the UK box office this week is Dunkirk while the longest running film is Despicable Me 3 with 8 weeks on the chart, its currently number 6.
