After five weeks at the top of the global box office, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surrendered the number one spot to The Odyssey. Reclaiming the crown, The Odyssey has now grossed well over $1.5 billion since its release.

Meanwhile, the weekend's highest-grossing debut came from Mirzapur, entering the charts at number five.

Following suit with the rest of the globemarket The Nun tops the UK box office this weekend, and as part of The Conjuring series of films this is the second highest debut of the series.

The Nun doesn't quite equal the debut of The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Case which took £4.6 on its debut weekend but its £4 million opening isn't that far away.

With Halloween 6 weeks away the film could stick around for a few weeks but horror films like this do have a habit of upfront box office success, the bad reviews wont help much either!

Christopher Robin surrenders the top spot after 3 weeks with a weekend gross of nearly £900,000 which brings the films total gross to £12 million after 4 weeks.

After a slow start to its box office run BlackKKlansman stays at number 3 this week with just under £800,000, this brings the films total gross after 3 weeks to £4.5 million making it one of director Spike Lee's top films in the UK.

Mamma Mia Here We Go Again has started to slow down now and this week falls to 4 with just over £700,000.

This brings the films total gross to £63.2 million and although a fantastic total gross for a sequel film is will now struggle to beat the total gross of the original Mamma Mia and will likely not beat Avengers Infinity War as the top film of the year (so far).

Finally in the top 5 is The Meg which has far outstripped expectation and this weeks take just over £600,00 for a total of £15 million.

All change at the top of the US box office as Split surrenders its hold on the number 1 spot to the (sort of) follow up to The Lego Movie, The Lego Batman Movie.

After a three week spell at the top for Split the film falls down to number 4 this week as there are 3 new films entering in the top 3 slots.

The Batman Lego Movie takes $55.6 million on its opening weekend which is a little higher than expected for this movie but lower than The Lego Movie of 3 years ago.

Fifty Shades Darker opens at number 2 with $46 million, which can be considered good, but again it is far lower than the far higher anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey from 2 years ago.

Finally new at 3 if another sequel, John Wick Chapter 2 which opens to $30 million which is double that of the original John Wick movie.

Split takes $9.3 million on its fourth weekend and has now taken $112 million on its US box office run.

Highest total grossing movie on the US top 10 box office is Hidden Figures which has not taken $131 million over 8 weeks, the longest running film is Lion now on 12 weeks.

On the UK box office this week Emily Blunt knocks off Renee Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones is no match for The Girl on The Train.

Making its debut with just under £7 million The Girl on The Train is aiming for a similar target audience as Gone Girl which was released early October of 2014 and did very well.

This film which is also based on a bestselling novel has managed to come in £2 million higher despite reviews not being as favourable.

After 3 weeks at the top is it time for Bridget Jones's Baby to surrender the top spot and with a £2.9 million weekend falls to number 2.

The film cant be too sorry for itself as it has grossed £37.8 million so far and at the current pace will most likely become the most successful of the series.

Also new this week are War On Everyone at number 7 and Tristan und Isolde from the Metropolitan Opera which is new at 8.

Highest total grossing movie this week id Finding Dory with £41 million and longest run is The Secret Life of Pets which has now been around for 11 weeks.

Twenty years ago - The Nutty Professor was the top new film on the UK box office, it knocked off Last Man Standing.

Twenty five years ago - Out For Justice debuted at the top, knocking off Terminator 2: Judgement Day after 7 weeks at the top, it fell to number 3.

Despite being released in only 6 European countries, and having its release date on a Monday night, there was never going to be a bigger film than the new Bond movie on its opening week.

Hence the new outing for James Bond, Spectre, outperforms all in its path and is the biggest film across the world this week with a massive $80.4 million from 6 countries.

Good new for the franchise is that this outstrips the previous movie Skyfall and the film is currently on tract to be the biggest film in the franchise.

With the film opening in America this coming Friday it should see the film comfortably sit at the top for the coming weeks.

Falling to number 3 this week with $28.4 is The Martian, which surrenders the top spot and is also outgrossed by Hotel Transylvania 2 which hangs on to number 2, it does have the widest release with 83 countries.

The Martian has done amazingly well at the world box office and has current taken $428,4 million over its 6 week run and is still playing in 56 countries.
