The Marvel movies are coming thick and fast in latter part of 2021 and this week Eternals makes its debut at the top of the UK box office as it knocks off No Time To Die.

Also new this weekend is

Spencer starring Kristen Stewart as the pate Princess Diana which makes its debut at number 6 with £492,643.

Uk box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - Eternals (1st weekend)
  • Highest debut - Eternals (@1)
  • Longest run - No Time To Die (6 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - No Time To Die (£89.8 Million)

UK box office top 5 weekend breakdown 5th - 7th November 2021

Eternals

Directed by Oscar winner Chloe Zhao the latest movie from Marvel Studios lands at number 1 this weekend with a debut gross of £5.4 Million.

This is lower than this years Black Widow which came in at £6.5 Million but in the same ball park as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The movie has a hard to ahead as there are a number of high profile movies on the horizon which could take audience away, least of all MCU stable mate Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the movie has had some unfavourable reviews.

No Time To Die

Bond movie number 25 falls to number 2 this weekend with a gross of £1.9 Million, a 44% decline from last weekend where it went back to the top of the chart.

The movie has taken £89.8 Million over its 6 weeks of release and it is the top movie of 2021 by some margin, and I suspect it will stay there as none of the holiday movie release will have the strength to take nearly £100 Million.

The movie is the 5th top movie of all-time in the UK and as soon as it takes Avatar it will be all Bond in the top 5 except for the top movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and I dont see it breaking that movies £123 Million gross.

Dune

Director Denis Villeneuve sci-fi noval adaptation falls to number 3 this weekend with £1.5 Million on its 3rd weekend of release, a 53% decline over last weekend.

The movie has taken £16.8 Million in the UK so far which makes it the 5th top grossing movie of 2021.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Also from the Marvel Studio stable, but the Sony side, the Venom sequel falls to number 4 this weekend with £675,819, a 55% drop.

The movie which has been on release for 4 weeks now has taken £16.2 Million in the UK and is the 8th top movie of 2021.

The Boss Baby 2: Family Business

The animated sequel finishes off the top 5 this week with a gross of £606,181, a 55% drop, giving it a total gross of £5.8 Million.

Disney release their latest animated adventure Raya and the Last Dragon on cinemas and on Disney+ premium and score a number 1 hit movie, despite the debut weekend gross being a little lower than maybe expected.

Last weeks top movie, Tom & Jerry: The Movie, falls to number 2 after its successful debut last weekend and also on the top 5 there are new releases for Chaos Walking and Boogie.

Worthy of note this week is the drop of The War With Grandpa out of the top 15 movies, the film has been a long stay during the COVID-19 pandemic and spent 21 weeks on the chart, this week its at 17 with $20 Million total gross.

Us box office Quickview

  • Number 1 - Raya and the Last Dragon (1st Weekend)
  • Highest debut - Raya and the Last Dragon (@1)
  • Longest run - The Croods: A New Age (15 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - The Croods: A New Age ($53,611,445)

This weeks US box office top 5 breakdown 5th - 7th March 2021

Raya and the Last Dragon

Disney return to releasing movies at the US box office, despite it also being on Disney+, and score a number 1 hit, the Kelly Marie Tran and Awkwafina voiced movie takes $8.6 Million on its debut.

Kidpics have been the mainstay of the pandemic era with The War With Grandpa, The Croods: A New Age and last weeks top movie Tom & Jerry: The Movie all doing well, and with spring break on the doorstep this could do well as a return for Disney.

Tom and Jerry

Falling to number 2 this weekend the cat and mouse movie has done very well for itself, especially considering its also available on HBO Max, this week it takes $6.6 Million, a 56% drop from last weekend.

The movie has taken $23 Million at the US box office and is the third top grossing movie of 2021 so far!

Chaos Walking

Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley return to the big screen in this sci-fi movie that has been critically panned but still lands at number 3 this week with a gross of $3.8 Million.

Directed by Doug Liman the movie is available on streaming and I suspect wont be a long stay at the box office.

Boogie

Directed by Eddie Huang this story of a basketball prodigy lands at number 4 this weekend with a debut gross of $1.2 Million.

The Croods: A New Age

Falling to number 5 this weekend is the animated sequel movie which takes $780,000 on its 15th weekend of release, only 38% down from last weekend, giving it a $53.6 Million total.
