GLobal box office top 5 breakdown 29th - 31st October 2021

No Time To Die

After topping the global box office a few weeks back the 25th Bond movie gets its release in China where it takes $28 Million on its debut and pushes the movie back to the top.

Across the globe the movie takes $59.7 Million this weekend from 73 countries which is an incredible 25% increase over last weekend.

The movie has now taken an excellent $605.7 Million globally over its 5 weeks of release and is the 5th top movie of 2021.

Dune

The sci-fi movie from director Denis Villeneuve fallt to number 2 this weekend after spending a week at the top, the movie takes $36.9 Million on its 7th weekend of release from 76 countries, a 58% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total global gross of $292.1 Million and is the 10th top grossing movie of 2021.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

The Spider-Man super villain movie falls to number 3 this weekend with $27.1 Million from 54 countries, a 43% drop.

The movie has now taken $395.8 Million globally over 5 weeks of release and is the 7th top movie of 2021.

The Battle At Lake Changjin

The smash hit Chinese movie is at number 4 this weekend and takes $19 Million, a 40% drop over last weekend.

What this movie has achieved is quite incredible, it has been on the global box office for just 5 weeks and has taken $844.9 Million, it is the top movie globally of 2021 and yet it has only had a release in China.

To be fair the Chinese cinema has been open all year, unlike many other high grossing cinema territories like North America, United Kingdom, Australia, and I'm sure has these countries been open all year the likes of Fast and Furious 9, Black Widow and No Time To Die would have made over a Billion dollars, but you still can't take away this movies achievement.

Halloween Kills

The long running Halloween series had its celebrated day this Sunday and the latest movie holds tight at number 5 this weekend with $16.6 Million from 64 countries, a fairly slim 32% drop over last weekend, the movie has taken $115 Million over its 3 weeks of release.

The Lion kings reign over the UK box office came to an end the weekend with The Fast And The Furious Presents Hobbs And Shaw taking over at the top on its opening weekend while The Angry Birds Movie 2 disappoints on its debut.

Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw

Universal starts to spread the wings of its very successful Fast & Furious series with a spin off using the characters of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.

The film opens well in the UK, although not as well as the parent movie since episode 6, but a £6.3 Million opening weekend is still good.

The film takes 40% of the grosses on this weeks top 15.

The Lion King

Disneys CGI live action movie takes £5.1 Million over the weekend to push its UK gross to an incredible £50.7 Million after 3 weeks of release.

This makes the film the third highest grossing film of the year with Toy Story 4 and Avengers: Endgame ahead of it.

Over the full week Monday - Sunday the films gross is £13 Million far outgrossing Hobbs And Shaw, and if you take away the Thursday previews then the Disney movie also outgrosses the number 1 film.

Toy Story 4

The Pixar animation falls to number 3 this week with £1.3 Million which gives the film a £55.4 Million gross after 7 weeks of release.

Spider Man: Far From Home

Marvels team up with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU is on its 5th weekend and takes £862 Thousand at number 4 for a £32.9 Million total.

The Angry Birds Movie 2

Making its debut at number 5 this week is the follow up to 2016 movie The Angry Birds which took £2.1 Million on its debut and entered the box office at number 2.

The follow up manages a debut weekend of a little over £700 Thousand.

Aladdin

Guy Ritchie's live action Disney movie has been the surprise summer hit and this week is at number 13 with a total UK gross of £36.3 Million after 11 weeks of release.

In a mixed up week at the UK box office, using figures including 2 days of previews Adam Sandlers Pixels takes over a the top, the true winner is Inside Out.

If you take away the 2 days of previews Pixar's Inside Out is by far the biggest film of the weekend, and indeed of the week with only a 3% drop from the previous weeks takings.

But lets not take away from the given champion and Pixels duly takes over at the top of the UK box office with a weekend gross of £2.7 million.

After a slamming from critics last weeks top film, Fantastic Four, makes a dramatic fall from the top and lands at number 6 this week with a total gross after 2 weekends of £4.8 million.

The re-image of the superhero franchise simply hasn't worked and the new film will come no-where near the 2005 version which took £12.4 million or it's sequel 4: Rise of The Silver Surfer which took almost the same amount.

Other new film this week include The Man From U.N.C.L.E. at number 4 and Trainwreck, on a limited release, at number 5, Simon Pegg's new film Absolutely Anything enters at number 9.
