Superhero movies strike again as Warner Bros. DC movie The Batman storms to the top of the global box office on its opening weekend and dominates every country on release.

The Batman

With all the hype and due to a couple of release date changes causing pent up demand the Matt Reeves directed movie storms the global box office making its debut in 75 location and taking 76% of the box office takings.

The latest incarnation of the caped crusader, played by Robert Pattison, gets a debut gross of $248 Million, the second highest since 2019 with only Spider-Man: No Way Home taking more.

The movie is already the 5th top grossing movie of 2022.

Uncharted

The Tom Holland starring movie falls into second place this weekend with $28 Million from 65 countries, a 51% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now taken $271 in global takings and is the 4th top movie of 2022.

Spider Man: No Way Home

Still hanging around on the top 3, and for the 12 weekend is the smash hit Marvel/Sony movie which takes $8.4 Million over the weekend from 64 countries, a reasonable 34% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now taken $1.8 Billion globally, it is the second top movie of 2022 and the 3rd top movie of all time.

Death On the Nile

Dropping to number 4 this weekend, Kenneth Branagh's version of the Agatha Christie novel which takes $7.8 Million from 42 countries, a 48% drop.

The movies total global gross of now $113 Million over 4 weeks of release and is the 9th top movie of 2022.

The smash hit Chinese language sequel holds at number 5 this weekend with $7 Million from 5 countries, 39% down on last weekend, giving the movie a $601 Million total.

The movie drops 41% on its week on week take but the movies total global gross is now $226.3 Million which makes it the 4th top grossing movie of 2022.

Death On the Nile

The Kenneth Branagh directed movie spends its third weekend on the box office and remains at number 2 with a gross of $15.1 Million from 48 countries, a 42% drop.

The thriller has now taken $101.2 Million globally and is the 9th top grossing movie of 2022.

Spider Man: No Way Home

The Marvel/Sony movie is having a bit of a resurgence globally as the smash hit climbs back up from number 6 to number 3 this weekend with $12.7 Million from 64 countries, a very slim 17% drop on its 11th weekend of release.

The movie has now taken an amazing $1.85 Billion globally and is the second top movie of 2022 and the 6th top movie of all time.

Dog

Jumping up a spot on its second weekend of release is the Channing Tatum starring movie which takes $12 Million from 19 countries, a 26% drop over last weekend.

The movie now has a global total of $35.1 Million after 2 weeks of release.

Showing bow in 63 countries the movie takes $99.55 Million globally over the weekend, a 63% increase over last weekend.

Video game adaptation have a reputation of not doing so well but with $135 Million total gross to date this is bucking the trend.

Director Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel jumps to number 2 this weekend with $26 Million from 51 countries, a slim 22% drop over last weekend.

Falling to number 4 this weekend is the Xing Wenxiong directed movie which takes $17.3 Million from 3 countries, a 54% drop over last weekend, giving the movie a total gross of $369.2 Million and its the 3rd top movie of 2022.

Highest new movie of the weekend is the Channing Tatum starring film which lands at number 5 this week having taken $16.2 Million from 3 countries.

Sequel movie The Battle At Lake Changjin II holds the top of the global box office on its second weekend of release as it expands into a few movie countries and passes the half billion gross mark.

The Chinese made action drama remains at the top of the global box office this week as the movie expands into 5 countries and takes $43.7 Million over the weekend, a large 72% drop over last week, but expected after the Chinese holiday the movie launched in.

This gives the movie a total global gross of $524 Million after 2 weeks of release, and it is now the top grossing global movie of 2022.

Too Cool to Kill

Also doing well is the Chinese only release which remains at number 2 as the Xing Wenxiong directed movie takes $37.6 Million on its second weekend of release, a 66% drop over last week.

The movie has now taken $316.5 Million in the single country and is the 3rd top grossing movie of 2022.

Death On the Nile

The delayed release of this remake movie means Kenneth Branagh has 2 movie currently doing the rounds at the global cinema, altohugh Belfast has dropped out of the global top 10, for the moment.

This star studded movie makes its debut on the world stage at number 3 with 33.5 Million from 48 countries, and its the highest debuting movie of the weekend.

Nice View

Falling to number 4 this weekend is the Chinese only release from director Muye Wen which takes $21.6 Million on its second weekend, a 52% drop, giving it a $159.3 Million total.

Uncharted

Tom Holland returns to the box office, this time accompanied by Mark Wahlberg as the duo star in the video game adaptation which gets released in just 15 countries this weekend, it gets released in North America this coming Friday, clearly wanting to avoid the quiet Superbowl weekend.

The movie makes its debut at number 5 with $21.5 Million but expect that to just next weekend as it goes wider around the world.

It was the Chinese new year this last weekend and the global box office saw a wave of the hits with the sequel to 2021's The Battle At Lake Changjin, The Battle At Lake Changjin II topping the list.

Also worthy of a comment is that the whole top 5 this week are new entries which meant that Spider-Man: No Way Home gets pushed down to number 6 on its 8th weekend of release.

The Battle At Lake Changjin II

The Chinese only release of The Battle At Lake Changjin was the top grossing movie of 2021 when it was released in early October, that was until Spider-Man: No Way Home came in and spoiled the party.

The sequel gets its release this weekend in just 2 countries and knocks the Spider-man movie from the top with a debut weekend of $153.4 Million, although this is lower than the $232 Million debut of the previous movie.

The future looks good for the film and with the longevity the previous movie had this could be around for a number of weeks to come.

To top of a very good weekend for the movie it had instantly become the second best global movie of 2022.

Too Cool to Kill

Directed by Xing Wenxiong action comedy makes it debut at number 2 this week with a gross of $111.5 Million from a single country release.

On its debut weekend the movie has become the fourth top movie of 2022.

Nice View

Making its debut at number 3 is this new movies from director Muye Wen which takes $45.5 Million on its opening weekend from just one country of release.

The movie is the 8th top movie of 2022.

Boonie Bears: Back to Earth

The latest movie in the long running animated Boonie Bear series, this time from director Huida Lin, makes its debut at 4 with $38.9 Million from its single country of release.

The movie has just snuck into the top 10 movies of 2022 at number 10.

Jackass Forever

To finish off the top 5 is the new sequel to the long running Jackass series which stars Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O.

What is reported to be the last movie, maybe because of the age of the principle cast, the movie makes its debut with $28.7 Million from just 10 countries.
